What We Offer
As a Senior Pressure Safety Engineer, this role will design, analyze and optimize pressure safety and emergency relief systems, including reactive cases and two-phase flow. Represents the company in industrial and trade communities such as AIChE (DIERS), ASME and API.
Major Responsibilities

  • Design and evaluate emergency relief systems such as pressure safety valves and rupture disks for plants in the NAFTA region.
  • Design, analyze and optimize pressure safety aspects of highly integrated processes as well as basic unit operations such as distillation columns or heat exchangers.
  • Facilitate advanced pressure safety contingency review and project meetings; perform advanced pressure safety calculations including reactive cases, headers and two-phase flow.
  • Support Global and Regional pressure safety policy development, training, and execution.
  • Support documentation of regional pressure safety standards and policies.
  • Drive policy discussions and improvements to our standards and procedures.
  • Support business unit with day-to-day operations that impact or impacted by their emergency relief systems.
  • Review and approve Emergency Relief System Design packages to ensure they meet internal qualification requirements.
  • Participate in Operational Safety evaluation of pressure safety related hazards and provide safeguard design solutions and implementation verification.
  • Proactively solve pressure safety related concerns and problems as discovered through process unit interactions.
  • Proposes solution to drive efficiency in Pressure safety work processes.
  • Plans for TAR support.
  • Actively involved in industrial organizations such as AIChE, ASME, API, or other.
  • Participate in HSEQ service initiatives and represent the HSEQ organization within the site.
What You Offer
Basic Qualifications
  • A Bachelor's degree in chemical or similar engineering with 6 years of experience, Master of Science in chemical or similar engineering and 4 years of experience, or a Ph.D. in chemical or similar engineering and 2 years of experience.
  • Plant experience and minimum of 2 years Emergency Relief System experience in sizing and specifying pressure relief devices.
  • The eligibility to apply for and obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) within a reasonable timeframe
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience as a project or process engineer in various capacities
  • Professional engineer certification
Knowledge & Skills:
  • Understanding of chemical engineering fundamentals (chemical reaction, unit operations, process control concepts).
  • Possess a working knowledge of relevant industry codes and standards including ASME, API, ASHRAE-15, IIAR, NFPA, and OSHA regulations.
  • Understand and analyze highly integrated processes based on process documentation (PFD, P&ID)
  • Proficiency in the use of pressure safety calculation tool such as Superchems or other
  • Facilitate advanced pressure safety contingency review and project meetings. Perform advanced pressure safety calculations including reactive cases, headers, and two-phase flow.
  • Demonstrate leadership and people skills working within cross functional teams.
  • Ability to communicate (both written and verbal) effectively at all levels of the organization.
  • Participate and effectively lead regional/global teams. Presentation experience is necessary.
  • Willingness to travel; expected no more than 5%
