As a Software Engineering Intern on the Spot Platform team, you will be part of a highly collaborative group that is passionate about innovation - and of course, robots! We help make Spot more useful to our customers by developing payloads and subsystems to collect and analyze real-world information. In this role, you will be responsible for the design and development of software for our robots and payloads. This encompasses developing APIs and libraries, device driver and operating system debug and tuning, as well as supporting our hardware team in bringing-up new hardware. This is a great opportunity if you enjoy working collaboratively with cross-functional teams and are comfortable with interpreting requirements from multiple sources into a workable concept.
How You Will Make An Impact
- Participate in the development and optimization of software for robotics applications, including collision avoidance systems, imaging processing pipelines, ML model optimizations, and control systems.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand requirements and contribute to the project lifecycle from design to deployment.
- Implement and test software solutions to ensure reliability, efficiency, and scalability.
- Engage in the research and application of new technologies and methodologies to improve project outcomes.
- Document and present your work to peers and stakeholders, providing insights and recommendations for future developments.
- Continually strive to improve the product and the process.
We Are Looking For
- Currently pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- Strong programming skills in languages such as C++ and Python.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
Bonus Points
- Familiarity with machine learning, computer vision, and robotics concepts.
- Experience with common software development tools such as Github, Docker, Jenkins, and Bazel.
- Experience with request processing such as REST and gRPC.
