Job Summary:

Provide technical support for custom product development of specialty adhesive and tape products. This individual has a critical role in a cross functional product development team (Including Sales, R&D, Operations, Customer Service, and Quality) to develop and commercialize new products. This individual is a technical resource to internal and external customers and is responsible for the effective scale up of products from the lab to the plant.





Essential Functions:

Participate as a member and/or leader on product development team focused on customizing and producing products that meet the customers needs.

Conduct scale-up production trials for new products.

Prepare the developmental protocols, batch records, and other documentation related to chemical processing, coating and slitting of new products.

Collect data and perform data analysis/interpretation using statistical tools to optimize processing conditions.

Generate reports documenting scale up procedures.

Participate in troubleshooting production related issues.

Effectively communicate with other departments (e.g. engineering, operations, R&D, sales, customer service, scheduling, planning, etc).

Provide technical support to internal and external customers on process and equipment capabilities and quality issues.

Represent the organization in a professional and positive manner to associates, external customers, and vendors.


Additional Responsibilities:

Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.


Technical Requirements:

Bachelors degree in an Engineering discipline.

Minimum 2-5 years experience in manufacturing. Experience in a cGMP environment is preferred.

1 year of product development experience, preferably in the adhesives or coating industry.

Computer literacy with good working knowledge in Excel, Word and PowerPoint.

Understanding of the SPC and statistical software packages, Minitab is preferred.

Ability to effectively communicate and present technical presentations to internal and external customers.

Experience working in an ISO environment is preferred. Understanding of cGMP requirements is preferred.


Project Management / other requirements:

Ability to handle multiple projects and programs concurrently

Must be flexible to work different shifts as required by assignments

Must be able to travel to customers, vendors and sister companies


Physical Demands:

Physical exertion such as periods of standing, recurring bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching, or similar activities should be expected;occasional lifting of moderately heavy items (objects over 50 pounds)


Hand Functions:

Use of computer, typing


Environmental:

Work environment involves moderate risks or discomforts requiring special safety precautions, e.g., working around moving parts, machines, and irritant chemicals; may be required to use personal protective equipment such as masks, uniforms, blues, hairnets, gloves, safety shoes, safety glasses/goggles, shields, etc.
