We are seeking a Senior Middleware Engineer (AWS) to join our CGI team in Sacramento, CA! This is a client facing full-time career opportunity to work on a highly visible transformation (Infrastructure services) projects for one of our long-standing government clients!

This position is located in our Sacramento, CA office; however, a hybrid working model is acceptable.

How you’ll make an impact

The Senior Middleware Engineer applies deep technical expertise in Oracle WebLogic and other middleware and cloud platform technologies, to the design, implementation, testing, and ongoing support of our middleware and cloud infrastructure. The Senior Middleware Engineer:

  1. Troubleshoots and resolves middleware issues across development, testing, and production environments in both on premise and cloud environments.
  2. Performs deployments of custom code/software.
  3. Installs, configures, and manages middleware applications on Amazon Web Services (AWS), working with internal service groups as required to ensure system availability and uptime meet project requirements.
  4. Develops scripts to automate systems administration and monitoring activities.
  5. Analyzes monitoring results to produce recommendations for improving performance and operational efficiency of middleware components.
  6. Works with Infrastructure Architect on issues related to middleware infrastructure design and architecture and assists with Proof Of Concept testing.
  7. Works with peers within and beyond the Operations team to define and characterize complex technology or process problems and develop & implement new solutions.
  8. As needed, assists with the development of Operations white papers, proposals, and other documentation.

What you’ll bring

  1. 2 years of Oracle WebLogic 14 Application Server Administration experience.
  2. 5 years of Oracle WebLogic Application Server Administration experience (all versions).
  3. AWS Cloud Practitioner Certification.
  4. 3 or more years of AWS administration experience, including API Gateway, S3, ECS, EKS, Fargate, EC2, Lambda, WAF, and CloudTrail.
  5. 3 or more years deploying Infrastructure as Code using tools such as CloudFormation or Terraform.
  6. 3 or more years working in an environment with automated CI/CD pipelines.
  7. Experience with Oracle Access Manager.
  8. Ability to exercise independent judgment in driving technical problems to resolution.
  9. Excellent troubleshooting and root cause-analysis skills.
  10. Excellent working knowledge of Windows and Linux server technologies.
  11. 3-5 years experience with Active Directory, LDAP or equivalent technologies.
  12. Experience working with third party service providers such as vendors and internal support groups.
  13. Ability to plan and implement change for enterprise systems and adhere to standard change management processes.
  14. Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS/NON-ESSENTIAL SKILLS:

  1. Oracle Certified Associate, Oracle WebLogic Server 12c Administrator Certification Overview.
  2. 3-5 years of Unix/Linux System Administration experience.
  3. Experience administering Informatica and Qlik application platforms.
  4. Experience working in an outsourced/managed services environment with some client-facing responsibilities (e.g. technical discussions with the client).
  5. Familiarity with Atlassian (Jira, Confluence, Bamboo, Bitbucket) and other DevOps tools.
  6. Strong Working knowledge of Local and Wide area networking technologies.
  7. Experience supporting fast-paced development environments utilizing Agile and DevOps methodologies.
  8. Ability to communicate complex technical information to less technical staff (e.g. CGI management and client staff).
  9. Strong understanding of broader technology context (e.g. network and database technologies).
  10. Ability to mentor other team members in areas of technical expertise.
