What You'll Do

In this role, you will be responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of our monitoring systems including ScienceLogic EM7. You will play a critical part in ensuring the reliability, performance, and scalability of our enterprise infrastructure through proactive monitoring and solving. Working closely with our operations, network, and systems engineering teams, as well as other collaborators across various departments to ensure availability and efficiency of the platform.

As a Tooling and Automation Engineer, you will

  • Develop Automation: Design and maintain Ansible-based automation workflows to improve infrastructure performance and efficiency.

  • Infrastructure as Code: Build Ansible playbooks and modules for provisioning, configuration, and orchestration across environments.

  • Collaborate & Integrate: Work with IT teams to identify automation opportunities and integrate Ansible with CI/CD pipelines and cloud platforms.

  • Diagnose and resolve automation issues while ensuring system reliability.

  • Continuously enhance automation processes, adhering to the best methods and security standards.

  • Collaborate with team members to align automation with business needs.

  • You’ll play a vital role in advancing automation within Cisco's Collaboration Technology Group (CTG).

Who You Are

You are a self-motivated and meticulous engineer with a deep understanding of network and systems monitoring technologies, specifically in using ScienceLogic EM7. You have a strong technical background and are comfortable working in sophisticated environments. Your passion for problem-solving and commitment to optimizing system performance drive you to continuously innovate. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team are key strengths, as are the ability to adapt to constantly evolving technologies and environments.

Minimum Requirements

  • 2+ years experience in the administration and support of complex, Linux-based enterprise software applications.

  • Proven experience with one or more scripting/programming languages (Bash/POSIX, Perl, Python, C, Go, PHP).

  • Experience with infrastructure automation using Ansible.

Preferred Requirements

  • Understanding of Ansible runners including AWX, and Tower.

  • Knowledge of MySQL, PostgreSQL, or SQLite.

  • Good understanding of SNMP protocol. Must demonstrate familiarity with SNMP commands, MIBs, and OIDs.

  • Basic understanding of various devices in Collaboration, Networks, DataCenter, and Security portfolios.

  • ScienceLogic EM7 certification or equivalent experience.

  • Experience with cloud platforms and monitoring hybrid cloud environments.

  • Knowledge of ITIL practices, specifically incident and problem management.

  • Experience integrating ScienceLogic EM7 with other IT operations tools such as ServiceNow, Splunk, or SolarWinds.

  • Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools like Docker, or Kubernetes for automated monitoring setups.

  • Strong understanding of security monitoring and compliance requirements within an enterprise environment.
