Northrop Grumman's Manufacturing Operations Engineering organization is seeking a Principal/Senior Principal Manufacturing Systems Project Engineer for Final Assembly. This position is located in Linthicum, Maryland.

The selected candidate will be a member of the Final Assembly team and will lead process development projects for multiple programs across several manufacturing cells.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Develop project scope requirements, perform technical planning, manufacturing system development, integration, verification and validation.
  2. Facilitate collaboration across Manufacturing Operations functional support groups through all manufacturing readiness phases.
  3. Manage project cost (implementation, ROI), schedule and risk mitigation strategies.
  4. Drive root cause corrective action (RCCA) efforts.
  5. Lead shop floor product / process troubleshooting across cells.

Basic Qualifications for a Principal Manufacturing Systems Project Engineer:

  1. Bachelor of Science degree or higher in Engineering or related STEM area and 5 years of relevant professional experience (or 3 years with an MS; 0 years with a PhD)
  2. Experience with manual and automated assembly processes
  3. Experience with conformal coating
  4. Project management experience
  5. Proficiency in 3-CAD modeling
  6. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, MS-Project)
  7. Familiarity with J-STD and MIL-STD requirements
  8. Ability to travel 10% of the time

Basic Qualifications for a Senior Principal Manufacturing Systems Project Engineer:

  1. Bachelor of Science degree or higher in Engineering or related STEM area and 9 years of relevant professional experience (or 7 years with an MS; 4 years with a PhD)
  2. Experience with manual and automated assembly processes
  3. Experience with conformal coating
  4. Project management experience
  5. Proficiency in 3-CAD modeling
  6. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, MS-Project)
  7. Familiarity with J-STD and MIL-STD requirements
  8. Ability to travel 10% of the time

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Experience in process development and support of Parylene conformal coating
  2. Experience with a variety of masking techniques and materials
  3. Siemens NX, Teamcenter, CPLM, SAP
  4. Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
  5. Experience with a Manufacturing Execution System (MES)
  6. Familiarity with Design of Experiment (DOE), Statistical Process Control (SPC)

Salary Range: $102,400 - $153,600

Salary Range 2: $127,000 - $190,600
