Job DescriptionPosition Overview:
This role is responsible for developing and supporting automation systems across ARP's North American manufacturing facilities. This role focuses on creating, documenting, and maintaining corporate standards for SCADA and MES systems. The person will work closely with plant personnel to assess needs and design controls-based solutions that enhance overall equipment effectiveness (OEE). Additionally, the position supports Operations Engineering with capital projects, including the specification of hardware and software for automation and integration systems. The role also provides day-to-day troubleshooting support for unplanned breakdowns, collaborating with cross-functional teams, including Operations and Maintenance, to ensure smooth production processes.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties:
- Responsible for the administration and maintenance of the Automation systems.
- Works directly with plant personnel in SCADA implementation and controls systems design.
- Develops and maintains documentation for system architecture and interfacing.
- Provides programming and troubleshooting of PLC controls and SCADA/MES applications.
- Architect, write, and debug PLC code, emphasizing generating organized, structured, documented, maintainable, and reusable code for manufacturing applications.
- Performs Human Machine Interface designs (HMI).
- Collaborate with Ops Engineering & Program Managers on defining standards for industrial controls in Capital Projects.
- Perform planning, scheduling, installation, monitoring, configuration, troubleshooting, repair, backup and upgrade for production environment.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Controls Engineering, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering or equivalent discipline is highly desired.
- 7+ years of experience in development and support of SCADA systems and / or industrial controls networks, preferably utilizing Wonderware or Ignition software applications.
- Previous experience programming Rockwell and Siemens PLCs & HMIs.
- Proven record with Industrial communication and PLC messaging.
- Experience in the 24 / 7 high volume manufacturing environment is highly desired.
- SCADA, PLCs, HMI, Drives, Network Switches/Routers, and Radio communication devices
- Industrial communication protocols such as Modbus, OPC DA/UA and Ethernet/IP, Profibus
- MS SQL Database support, programming, administration
- Fundamentals of Object-oriented Programming
- IT Fundamentals such as Active Directory, Networking, Server Environment
- AutoCAD is highly desired
- Demonstrated ability to develop and support object-oriented programming for SCADA applications
- Proven ability to modify and troubleshoot competently PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, etc. (Allen Bradley preferably)
- Experience in a High-Level Programming Language
- Demonstrated ability to analyze and interface to PLC and other Automation systems
- Must be self-starting, self-motivated personality type, able to work independently according to competent direction
- Communicates effectively, written and verbally
- Team oriented work ethic
- Proficient in common MS Office Applications
- Travel ~40%

CompensationThe starting salary for this position is expected to be between $108,700 to $135,900; however, base pay offered may vary within the full salary range $108,700 to $163,100 depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Base pay information is based on national averages and a geographic differential may be applied based on work location. Position may also be eligible for Amcor's Management Incentive Plan / Sales Incentive Plan, which is an annual bonus program based on business and individual performance, as well as medical coverage and other health and welfare benefits.
