This role will collaborate with sales, business development and the customer to provide a solution to the customers’ design problems.ResponsibilitiesHydraulic, pneumatic, and electromechanical component and system design, including new product development and support of sustaining production of existing designs.Accountability for development and test of new design configurations, independently leading component detail design including layout and modeling by designers and drafters, tolerance stack-ups and drawing approvals, and detailed analysis such as stress/FEA/fatigue.Interface with internal and external customers & suppliers to clarify design intent and technical requirements, planning and defining program workload, leading design teams.Write test plans and test reports in support of new development and product improvement programs.Support and apply Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) to facilitate inspection and manufacturing.Drive engineering design and development process improvements. Lead internal and external design reviews. Review and approve designs for completeness and proper application of engineering principles in peer reviews.Maintain accurate, orderly project records, including design and test data, customer specifications, directives, etc.Required QualificationsPhD degree in Engineering or related technical field and 10 years’ experience as a project/design engineer, ORMaster’s degree in Engineering or related technical field and 13 years’ experience as a project/design engineer, ORBachelor’s degree in Engineering or related technical field and minimum 15 years’ experience as a project/design engineerSenior level experience in component design layout and modeling, detail design and drafting per ASME Y14.5, analysis, and qualification test. Complete understanding of manufacturing and assembly methods.Working knowledge of aircraft systems and the effects of components on system operation and performance.Expert knowledge of industry design practices to predict component reliability, working knowledge of reliability analysis, fault-tree analysis, FMEA, FMECA, durability analysis, damage tolerance analysis, and wear analysis.Expert knowledge of stress analysis, FEA, fatigue analysis, non-linear strain analysis, tolerance stackups, performance analysis, weight analysis, vibration analysis, thermal analysis, corrosion control, and material and process control.Excellent writing, presentation, communication, and organizational skills.
