About the Role

This position will drive the development of Windfall Bio’s downstream processing for the packaging of viable bacteria/microbes and fertilizer. This involves supporting custom manufacturers in the operation of scale processes, as well as working at Windfall Bio’s lab with its supporting experiments. By collaborating with cross-functional teams and understanding the lab/bench processes, you will design and determine the equipment specs for future processes and plants.

This role is extremely hands-on, and will require knowledge of commercial scale centrifuges, dryers, biologics packaging, along with laboratory practice, experimental design, and data analysis.

Duties will include:

• The design and execution of experiments for the purpose of live microbial transport
• Developing a scalable process to ship both fertilizer products and live microbial products
• Stability and material testing for shelf life, ensuring quality product delivery to clients and end-users.
• Experimental design both in lab and at CMOs, moving from bench scale experimentation to full scale
• Working with a team of scientists & engineers for the design, implementation, and analysis of experiment results
• Domestic and International travel is required.

Qualifications:

• Master's degree with 4 years of experience in bioengineering, chemical engineering, or other related disciplines
• Hands-on experience working with Commercial Scale Centrifuges, Dryers, and Packaging
• Deep understanding of the design process for the transport of viable microbial cultures, and packaging shelf-stable liquids.
• Knowledgeable on scale up processes up to 1000L+ bioreactors
  • Ideally 10,000L scale
• Ability to complete complex statistical analysis and model building, in programs such as JMP
  • R/Python is acceptable, but JMP is preferred
• Display strong interpersonal communication, analytical, computer, and technical writing skills.

The base salary range for this full-time position is $140 - $180k, plus equity and benefits. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, relevant education or training, and location.
