About the role

Our team supports the actuarial pricing, rater development and portfolio management for the global Accident & Health, Travel, and Warranty Services Programs. As the Business Data Senior Engineer, you will be challenged and encouraged to reach your greatest potential. You will be a key team member, working closely with global and regional business, underwriting, IT, operations, and finance teams to achieve goals and deliver strategic initiatives. You will be the “go-to” source for help and support because of your deep technical knowledge and expertise. You are expected to drive continual improvement and impact the way that things get done.

Responsibilities include

  • Support data delivery for visualization dashboards and data repositories used for portfolio management, actuarial rate reviews and advanced modelling.
  • Identify and support opportunities to improve and streamline processes regarding data flow and data quality to improve data accuracy, completeness and value.
  • Provide rating tool supports to the Accident & Health, Travel and Warranty Service Programs.
  • Support the efficient and accurate implementation of the pricing and expense guidance.
  • Partner with business leaders to track key user inputs from different raters.
  • Collaborate with IT/Internal Audit to ensure all data and user authorities are properly handled.
  • Work with IT to upgrade the technology infrastructure.
  • Proactive communication of timelines with key stakeholders.
  • Support new product development by giving technical recommendations and solutions.
  • Continue to enhance existing raters by reviewing code, refining logic, and implementing functional changes.
  • Test raters and check for errors, bugs, and interoperability.
  • Monitor the day-to-day use of the raters and solve user issues in a timely manner.
  • Provide rating tool trainings to users around the globe as needed.
  • Develop, automate, and maintain reports to support data-driven decision making and business reviews.

Position Requirements

  • BS Degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Math or related area.
  • 3+ years of experience with data analysis and system development.
  • Insurance Industry experience a plus.
  • The successful individual will be well versed in the whole systems development life cycle.
  • Advanced SQL and VBA skills, and proficiency in one or more programming languages, such as Python and R.
  • Data model design expertise, including leading data warehousing, business intelligence and analytics projects in insurance and financial services industry.
  • Expert level in ETL and data transformation processes required.
  • Experienced with MS Visual Studio Integration Services to build complex ETL solutions.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills, and attention to details.
  • Work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Comfortable collaborating with stakeholders spread across the globe and in different time zones.
  • SharePoint management and design experience is a plus.
  • Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau and PowerBI is a plus.
  • Worked in a global team is a plus.
