This residential role follows a 5:2, 4:3 roster and is based in Hopetoun, WA, a charming town adjacent to the Fitzgerald National Park. A relocation package and company housing will be provided to the successful candidate.

Ravensthorpe Nickel Mine transitioned into Care and Maintenance in July 2024 and has kept on a residential workforce dedicated to maintaining the plant during this period.

Reporting into the Supervisor, Electrical you shall be responsible for providing the highest quality services, all services are to be performed within a timely manner.

Tasks include installation, maintenance, and repairs of electrical and instrumentation wiring, equipment, and fixtures. Ensure that work is in accordance with the relevant Australian and mining standards and regulations codes.

The process plant areas consists of:

  • Beneficiation circuit , consisting of crushers and grinding mills with associated support systems and process circuits including conveying systems, vibrating screens, centrifugal and P.D pumps, pipework and cyclones, various sized tankage with agitation.
  • Leach circuit consisting of An Atmospheric Leach circuit with associated centrifugal pumps, pipework and various sized tankage with agitation.
  • Hydro circuit with associated centrifugal pumps, pipework and various sized tankage with agitation, pressure and vacuum filters including associated support systems.
  • Utilities plant which includes a Sulphuric Acid plant, steam turbines and diesel generators for power generation, desalination plant, and air compressors.

Key Accountabilities

  • Ensuring that all electrical and instrumentation maintenance is carried out in a safe and efficient manner, to assure maximum reliability and uptime;
  • Meeting set work targets for daily work group activities in accordance with applicable policies and procedures;
  • Achieving results through prioritising activities, delegating and monitoring the progress of assignments, and holding yourself accountable for the results;
  • Motivate yourself and others in overcoming obstacles and achieving goals;
  • Maintain good Fieldbus installation standards to ensure on-going reliability of Fieldbus system;
  • Ensure that data displayed on the DCS system corresponds with the calibration of field;
  • Instrumentation to the required resolution and accuracy as laid down by the company’s calibration procedure;
  • Capable of fault finding on Instrumentation control loops;
  • Maintenance on all plant electrical and instrumentation equipment;
  • Working on motor control systems;
  • DCS wiring;
  • High voltage motors & Low voltage motors and switch gear;
  • Maintain High and low voltage variable speed drives;
  • Battery systems for high voltage protection relays and UPS;
  • Substation Maintenance;
  • Overhead power line from the mine to a sea water intake and booster pump stations; and
  • Perform any other duties as requested by your supervisor.

Skills, Knowledge and Experience

  • High Voltage Ticket;
  • Must possess a current WA electrical worker license – A grade;
  • Certificate IV Instrumentation certificate;
  • Minimum of 3 years relevant experience in large mining operation;
  • Proven experience with all electrical preventative maintenance, unplanned repair & installation tasks on plant & camp equipment;
  • Valid WA driver’s license;
  • Current EWP & confined spaces tickets preferred;
  • Ability to multi-task & work well in a team environment; and
  • Good verbal and written communications skills.
