Job Requirements / Description

Manage, lead, and coordinate all plant manufacturing engineering activities and work assignments in scheduling, continuous improvement, and planning of personnel in accordance with strategic objectives and plans. Obtain optimum efficiency, economy of operations, and maximize profits by creating a safe, effective, customer-driven manufacturing environment and a workforce capable of meeting current and future customer requirements.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain an effective organization through selection, education, training, mentoring, and motivation of all personnel under his/her direction.
  • Manage and execute projects incorporating facilities, equipment, and personnel to meet current and future manufacturing requirements, including department budgets and guidelines, plant layout, improvements, and capital expenditure program, while ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations issued by OSHA, EPA, and federal, state, and local agencies.
  • Create and reconcile manufacturing documentation, such as manufacturing bills of material, labor routings, manufacturing process documentation, CNC programs, etc., as required by the various operating business systems (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001).
  • Develop the manufacturing processing steps and CNC programming necessary for the accurate and cost efficient production of close tolerance, complex jobs in a low volume and high mix environment.
  • Contribute to key strategic planning and decision making regarding new technologies, processing, markets, machining and tooling capabilities, and customer value-added solutions.
  • Confer with management, production, and marketing staff to determine engineering feasibility, cost effectiveness, and customer demand for new and existing products.
  • Establish new guidelines, best practices, and routines based on engineering standards to assure operational capabilities, quality, safety, lead time reductions and cost effectiveness.
  • Negotiate with internal and external customers, operations, engineering, and sales personnel regarding process, material, and equipment changes to the production of seal and auxiliary items
  • Support branches with make vs. buy analysis, programming requirements, and other needs as requested.
  • Develop and coach direct reports, aligning development needs with business and individual goals.

The Individual

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Qualified individual will have a foundation formed by personal experience in the programming, set-up, and efficient operation of machine shop equipment in a job shop environment that includes Swiss Style Screw machines, VMCs, CNC Lathes, EDMs, and others.
  • Requires a B.S. in a manufacturing engineering discipline or equivalent. Requires eight or more years work experience in manufacturing engineering applications and project management. Must have programming and capacity planning knowledge.
  • Project management of new equipment including evaluation, design, specification, selection, justification, acquisition, installation, training, and sign-off to manufacturing.
  • Past experience working with highly skilled machinists to diagnose and resolve machine, cutting tool, material, and programming issues.
  • Computer literacy must include MS Office suite, MRP systems, and programming experience in the use of 3-D CAD/CAM, Fanuc controls, and EdgeCam.
  • Ability to set department priorities, develop department employees, resolve conflict, and incorporate progressive and breakthrough change.
  • Full understanding of cost estimating in a manufacturing environment.
  • Creative thinker, able to strategize with forward thinking to raise the bar in the manufacturing process.
  • Change management experience with manufacturing, planning, tooling, and CNC programming.
  • Lean / Six Sigma Black Belt Certification a plus
  • Preferred experience in working with international suppliers and manufacturing operations.
  • Experience with Quality (ISO 9001), Environmental (ISO 14001), and Health & Safety (OHSAS 18001) business management systems a plus

Salary & Benefits

The salary range for this position is $124,000 - $146,000 USD.
