Software Engineer

PMAT is seeking a Software Engineer to be a key contributor in developing Navy combat system upgrades and producing world-class software. The right engineer has 5+ years of experience developing real-time software using object-oriented languages.

Duties:

1. Review requirements for new SSDS software for accuracy in reflecting interface requirements, compatibility with existing architecture and requirements, and clarity
2. Develop new combat system software based on requirements, and lead/participate in code reviews
3. Prepare test procedures/conduct tests at the unit level
4. Prepare test procedures/conduct tests at the system level
5. Test, Analyze, and Fix SSDS software trouble reports
6. Document and demonstrate solutions via text, flowcharts, layouts, diagrams, charts, code comments, and clear code
7. Work collaboratively with others to achieve goals, be a persistent, creative problem solver, and stay on the leading edge of development practices

Qualifications:

1. Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline – Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, or equivalent technical degree, or the equivalent combination of education, professional training, and work experience
2. 5+ years of experience as a software developer
3. High comprehension of software architecture, requirements-driven design, and test/behavior-driven development

Highly desired experience:

1. Experience developing real-time systems
2. Experience with object-oriented languages, with emphasis on C++
3. Experience working in an enterprise environment with agile software development methodologies
4. Experience with containerization
5. Experience with some of the following, or similar, technologies and languages:
6. C/C++, Java, ADA, TCL/TK or other OO language
7. Docker, Linux, Git, Artifactory
8. Jira, Confluence
9. DOORS
10. JSON, XML, YAML

Security:

1. US Citizenship required
2. Ability to obtain a SECRET or higher security clearance
