What they will be doing/ working on:

In this role, the person will oversee civil engineering tasks for large renewable energy projects such as solar and wind farms. They will be responsible for reviewing and approving engineering plans, ensuring that all drawings and specifications meet project requirements. On-site, they will support construction teams by answering questions and resolving any issues that arise during the project.

This person will also collaborate closely with internal teams, including environmental, land rights, and permitting departments, to ensure smooth project progress and compliance with all regulations. They will travel to various project sites across Colorado, working both in the field and remotely. Additionally, they will ensure that all projects follow local, state, and federal regulations. Their role is a mix of technical oversight, hands-on support, and team collaboration to successfully complete large-scale energy projects.

Must Have Skills :

  • 8-10 years of experience Project Management

Job Description:

Our Client is seeking a Civil Engineer to support multiple large-scale renewable energy projects in Colorado, including solar and wind power facilities. This role involves working as a project engineer, overseeing the civil engineering aspects of various projects, particularly during the design and construction phases. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in civil engineering, utility experience, and a Professional Engineering (PE) license.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Engineering : Oversee civil engineering projects, including large solar and wind facilities, and combustion turbine projects.
  • Drawing Evaluation : Review and evaluate engineering drawings, RFIs, and technical specifications for accuracy and compliance with project requirements.
  • Scope of Work : Define scope of work, material procurement, and ensure that all designs meet project specifications.
  • Field Oversight : Visit construction sites to monitor progress, support contractors, and resolve design issues.
  • Collaboration : Work closely with internal business units, such as operations, land rights, environmental teams, and external contractors.
  • Permitting : Assist with obtaining and coordinating county, state, and federal permits, especially for hydro projects.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Experience : 8-10 years of civil engineering experience, preferably in the utility or power industry
  • Professional Engineering License (PE) : A valid PE license is required.
  • Software Skills : Proficiency with Bluebeam, Microsoft Office Suite, and ProjectWise or similar document management systems.
  • Technical Expertise : Experience in civil design, fieldwork, and utility infrastructure, particularly within renewable energy or fossil fuel plant design.
  • Communication & Troubleshooting : Strong communication and problem-solving skills to identify out-of-spec issues and troubleshoot design challenges.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Utility Industry Experience : Experience working with utility companies, particularly in the renewable energy sector.
  • Renewables Experience : Exposure to large renewable projects, such as wind and solar, is highly valued.
  • Field & Design Balance : Candidates with a blend of field and design engineering experience are preferred.
