Title: Security Engineer
Location: Rockville, MD
Duration: 12+ months

Essential Job Functions:

1. Gather user requirements and translate those into implemented rules.
2. Work with end-users to troubleshoot connectivity issues.
3. Create enhanced monitoring of software defined perimeter solution.
4. Perform thorough testing of new software clients and work to have them deployed in production.
5. Collaborate with software vendor to address issues as they arise.
6. Test and upgrade the AWS stack as new AMIs become available.

Other Job Functions:

1. Create documentation for end-users and other engineers.
2. Automate manual tasks.
3. Develop custom scripts to automate monitoring tasks.

Education/Experience Requirements:

1. Bachelor’s degree in engineering, information systems, or other related field.
2. Knowledge of networking technologies such as firewalls, proxies, gateways, and load balancers.
3. Familiarity with many standard TCP/IP protocols such as DNS, SSH, HTTP(S), and TLS/SSL.
4. Experience with Linux and Windows Operating Systems.
5. Exposure to AWS Services: EC2, S3, LAMBDA all pluses.
6. Experience with Python, Perl, or other scripting languages.
7. Splunk experience a plus.
8. Any industry standard Security Certification a plus.
