S. Lichtenberg & Co., Inc. is a leading supplier of home textiles in the U.S. with a broad customer base in brick and mortar and e-commerce. This position is on-site at our Great Neck Office. In-office days are Monday through Thursday with every Friday as a work from home option.

 

We are seeking a Designer who is a dynamic team player to participate in the product development process and maintain the company product line across all brands and collections. This position works closely with the Design Director and members of the Design, Merchandising and Sales departments to ensure continuity in product offerings and to achieve company goals.


MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:  

·        Design product at targeted price points that offer value and acceptable profit margins for retailer and the company.

·        Assist in the interpretation of trends in color and fabrication as it pertains to brick and mortar, e-commerce, internal vision and across all brands.

·        Collaborate with Art Director in executing print and woven designs.

·        Responsible for core fabrication extension development as well as specific private label programs.

·        Responsible for color system maintenance and growth.

·        Analyze customer assortments and identify white space.

·        Communicate all product information between design and merchandising.

·        Maintaining design lab organization.


PROBLEM SOLVING & DECISION MAKING:

·        Daily communication with Design Director and follow through regarding progress of the collections and workflow.

·        Function as a design liaison between design and merchandisers.

·        Comment/approve lab dips, strike-offs and samples for color, construction, fabrication, and design.

·        Employ excellent color sense, color matching skills, and creation of colorways.

·        Participate in design presentations from a precise product and marketing perspective.

·        Participate in trend discussions and offer point of view.

·        Collaborate with colleagues for preparation and presentation for customer and internal meetings/presentations.


BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

·        5-7 years of merchandising and product development experience in the home textile industry.

·        Bachelor’s degree in Textile/Fashion Merchandising or related degree.

·        Understanding of print and woven capabilities.

·        Solid understanding of color theory.

·        Proficient in Power Point, Microsoft Word, Excel, Photoshop and/or Illustrator.

·        Ability to organize daily tasks with attention to detail, good follow-through skills.

·        Works well in a team environment and independently.

·        Familiarity with Product Line Management (PLM) systems is preferred.

·        Motivated and detail oriented with strong written and verbal skills.

·        Strong organizational skills.
