Lead Software Engineer – Data Governance Technologies

Your Team

As a Lead Software Engineer – Data Governance Technologies in the Prudential Chief Data Office (CDO) organization, you will partner with product owners, tech leads, designers, engineers and delivery professionals to design, implement, and optimize the Prudential enterprise usage & technical implementations associated with the Data Governance suite of technology products/solutions. You will code, test and debug new and existing Data Governance applications & products as you implement capabilities to implement enterprise data management & data governance standard methodologies, deploy innovative products, services and experiences to delight our customers! In addition to advanced technical expertise and experience, you will bring excellent problem solving, communication and teamwork skills, along with agile ways of working, strong business insight, an inclusive leadership attitude and a continuous learning focus to all that you do.

Here is What You Can Expect on a Typical Day

  1. Provide support to the Data Governance technical product/solution vision, designing the technological solution approach & architecture (in conjunction with other teams & team members) to deploy best-in-class Data Governance technologies & automation.
  2. Support strategic technical capabilities for the automation of Data Governance functions & capabilities including considerations for incorporation of standard methodologies, workflow automation, scalable & performant solutions, alignment to data privacy & compliance requirements, and support for AI/ML capabilities.
  3. Implement & support applications & products ensuring that the code follows latest coding practices and industry standards, using modern design patterns and architectural principles; remove technical impediments.
  4. Collaborate with product owners in understanding needs and defining feature stories, tech leads in defining technical design and other team members to understand the system end-to-end and deliver robust solutions that bring about business impact.
  5. Write unit, integration tests and functional automation, researching problems discovered by quality assurance or product support, developing solutions to address the problems.
  6. Bring a strong understanding of relevant and emerging technologies, provide feedback and coach team members and embed learning and innovation in the day-to-day.
  7. Design, implement, and ensure ongoing support for alignment to all regulatory/compliance data security & privacy controls required across the end-to-end Data Governance tools & the Enterprise Data Platform(s) – including PII, CCPA, CPRA, GDPR, and other privacy regulations.
  8. Support the technical relationship with adjacent areas to integrate applications and implement the Data Governance applications & engineering standard methodologies for higher code quality.
  9. Work on complex problems in which analysis of situations or data requires an evaluation of intangible variables.
  10. Develop high quality, well documented and efficient code adhering to all applicable Prudential standards.

The Skills & Expertise You Bring

  1. Bachelor of Computer Science or Engineering or experience in related fields.
  2. Ability to coach/interact other technical resources or Data Governance team resources with minimal guidance and effectively leverage diverse ideas, experiences, thoughts and perspectives to the benefit of the organization.
  3. Knowledge of enterprise-level Data Governance & Data Management concepts tools and processes that are needed for making sound decisions in the context of the company's enterprise data program.
  4. Ability to learn new skills and knowledge on an ongoing basis through self-initiative and tackling challenges.
  5. Excellent problem solving, communication and collaboration skills.

Advanced experience and/or expertise with several of the following:

  1. Enterprise-level implementation of Data Governance/Enterprise Data Catalog tool and integration with diverse corporate data sources on numerous platforms.
  2. Data catalog scanning of enterprise data source systems & AWS data buckets, including establishing connectivity & ensuring high-quality data scanning & ingesting.
  3. Experience with metadata management tools & capabilities within the framework of an enterprise data management program.
  4. Formal Agile development methodology including strict alignment to the methodology timeframes, ceremonies, team constructs, & roles.
  5. Technical implementation support for a large enterprise Data Governance program rollout & ongoing implementation & expansion including experience with design, development and deployment of data management & data privacy processes.
  6. Cloud experience including the Data Governance tools as well as hosting of source systems/data sources.
  7. Strong data modeling capabilities & expertise in database design, integration, architecture, and performance practices.
  8. Documentation skills to define solutions, including technical architectures, data flows, system integration plans, etc.
  9. Implementation of all required corporate IT system and data controls & implementation of standard processes.
  10. Programming Languages: Python, Java or Java Script; working in distributed systems, object oriented programming, design patterns and design methodology; JAVA services using Spring CLI, Maven, Microservice, multi-threading, Concurrency and parallel processing.
  11. Application Programming Interfaces (API): Consumption & Development; implementing service oriented architecture (SOA) patterns; Web service technologies such as APIs, REST, JSON, SOAP, XML, JDBC, MySQL.
  12. Unit, interface and end user testing concepts and tooling (functional & non-functional).
  13. Experience with automated testing tools.
  14. Software security skills including secure coding, web application security and DevSecOps; Solid grasp of security concepts (authentication, authorization, encryption, digital signature, JWT), SSL, web service proxies, firewall, SAML 2.0, OpenID Connect, OAuth 2.0.
  15. Dev Ops Tools & Practices: Branching techniques and usage of GitHub, Bitbucket or Subversion; DevOps, Jenkins.
  16. Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC): Monitoring and logging techniques.
  17. AWS Core Services: AWS Services such as CloudWatch, Code-Deploy.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Experience with Informatica’s Enterprise Data Catalog (EDC), Informatica Axon, Informatica IDQ, Informatica CDQ, & Informatica Cloud Data Governance and Catalog (CDGC).
  2. Experience with AWS enterprise data platform tools such as Redshift & S3.
  3. Frameworks: React, Springboot, Node.js, such as Full / MEAN / MERN stack.
  4. Data Store: NoSQL or Relational Data structures; MongoDB BPM tools.
  5. Data Streaming: SQS, Kinesis.
  6. Experience working as a standout colleague in a global role/enterprise level.
  7. Experience supporting Data Science teams using cloud-based AI & ML platforms.
  8. Proactive results-oriented problem solver with phenomenal attention to detail.
  9. Architecture Patterns.
  10. Design Thinking.
  11. Financial/Insurance industry experience is a plus, not a must.

The salary range for this role is from $135,100.00 to $201,000.00.
