Project Overview:
The Finance Data Engineer will play a key role in creating, maintaining, and governing application support across multiple Finance applications like Peoplesoft, SAP, OFSAA, and Hyperion.
Major Duties:
- Conduct feasibility studies, define and design system requirements for complex data processing projects.
- Handle and resolve production issues, develop enhancements, upgrades, and offer expert advice and direction to business partners.
- Identify end-to-end scenarios and the impact to sub-systems, interfaces, and modules of business processes, providing expertise on critical solutions. Create prototypes and use cases to help users visualize the system.
- Define the overall solution for large and complex systems during the business requirement gathering process and functional specifications phase, leveraging time zone advantages for support. Manage execution of solutions and support quality assurance processes.
- Evaluate and recommend techniques, practices, or technologies that enhance business needs and ensure continuous process improvements. Perform application tuning for stability and possess strong knowledge of SQL programming.
- Experience in Data Warehouse methodologies like chart field/dimension maintenance and management reporting is a plus.
- Prepare project phase reports, including requirements, feasibility, definition, and design. Review and validate requirements to evaluate production impact and support requirements.
- Translate business needs into sound technical solutions, working closely with functional staff to determine appropriate technical solutions to client requests for change.
- Produce detailed technical designs to meet user requirements and development standards. Develop or maintain computer programs including designing, coding, testing, debugging, and installation as needed.
- Consult with partners from systems and other business units regarding new techniques, practices, or technologies in data processing and the impact of proposed and ongoing projects.
- Act as a technical or business consultant on project development/production health, new techniques, and the implementation of new processes. Serve as a key subject matter expert and mentor for Analyst-level employees.
- Work on projects while learning/refining project or process management skills.
- Deliver work products that require less revision, demonstrating broader knowledge of other areas.
- Exhibit excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Experience in Microsoft Excel functionality.
Knowledge:
Experience with applications like SAP, OFSAA, Hyperion, Anaplan, and various data warehouse business applications is beneficial for support. Knowledge of programming, debugging, and testing systems/programs is required to develop or maintain computer programs. Analytical and problem-solving skills are essential for systems guidance.
Experience:
A College or University degree in Computer Science and at least 5 years of relevant work experience is required. Background in Financial Services or Finance is preferred.
