Network Engineer

Description

Leidos is looking for a Senior Network Engineer to be part of a team responsible for the design, migration, implementation, enhancement, optimization, and maintenance of LAN/DATACENTER/WAN. This position will work with engineers on various technical projects.

This could include but is not limited to network consolidation and integration, architecture designs and updates, site renovations, and relocations.

Primary Responsibilities:

1. Provide technical expertise and assist with network integration and consolidation efforts across multiple systems environments.
2. Address and resolve technical problems of moderate complexity relating to the installation and upgrade of network hardware and systems.
3. Interface with customers, vendors, and technical staff to analyze business and technical requirements.
4. Provide full lifecycle engineering, from requirements definition through preliminary and detailed designs, and then deployment.
5. Maintain the technical baseline through documenting designed and delivered solutions, updating existing documentation as required.
6. Lead a team of engineers on projects, ensuring everyone is properly utilized to provide a finalized technical solution/implementation.
7. Assist/train engineers on new technologies to better the organization's technical expertise.
8. Understand software automation tools and incorporate programming languages to perform repetitious tasks.
9. Develop and document engineering standards.
10. Assist in evaluating current and emerging technologies, conducting technical assessments and making recommendations to senior engineers.
11. Exhibit strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
12. Effectively complete individual projects and tasks with some oversight.
13. Engineer first article work on multiple system environments.

Travel: May require occasional travel throughout the continental U.S.

Basic Qualifications:

1. Requires a Bachelor’s degree and at least 8 years of prior relevant experience or a Master’s degree with 6 years of prior relevant experience preferred, or 12 years of relevant career experience in lieu of a degree.
2. Clearance: Active Top Secret/SCI clearance w/Poly is required.
3. Layer 2 and Layer 3 hands-on configuration experience, with emphasis on dynamic routing protocols, such as BGP, EIGRP, and OSPF. Knowledge configuring GRE and IPSEC Tunnels, MPLS, DMVPN, Pseudowires, VPLS, and Remote Site and Site-to-Site VPNs. Excellent troubleshooting skills.
4. Knowledge in network dev-ops utilizing Python, APIs, network automation, Netconf, Restconf, Netmiko, YAML, Jinja2, Ansible.
5. Network Engineering Experience in AWS, Azure, and other Cloud network engineering vendors.
6. Design and implementation of datacenter technologies using spine-leaf technology.
7. Hands-on experience with the implementation and use of network monitoring, fault management, and performance analysis tools, such as SYSLOG, SNMP, Solarwinds, ISE, etc.
8. Familiarity with data center infrastructure and experience with Cisco Routers, Switches, Nex Gen Firewalls, ESXi, VMware.
9. Utilizing Juniper SRX equipment and Palo-Alto Firewalls to engineer boundary protection mechanisms.
10. Experience with network security concepts, best practices, and technologies including, but not limited to, SSH, IPSec, TACACS, PKI, firewall policies, DNS, Active Directory, and 802.1x.
11. Engineering solutions with Cisco Call Manager and VTC technologies.
12. Possess excellent written and oral communication skills.

Pay Range: Pay Range $101,400.00 - $183,300.00
