What You'll Do:

Software Engineer responsible for designing, building, and testing Risk application interfaces for quantitative models.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each primary duty satisfactorily.

  1. Obtain a solid understanding of the quantitative models and methodology used at the firm, as well as dependencies on individual applications.
  2. Work with business users, business analysts, system analysts, and other team members in understanding the requirements.
  3. Analyze system requirements and create high-quality system/software design.
  4. Contribute towards the build-out of streaming architecture using Java, Spring framework, and Unix scripting.
  5. Write test applications to validate results of quantitative models. Identify and resolve performance issues with test applications.
  6. Build unit and acceptance tests using Junit.
  7. Measure and improve existing software efficiency, memory footprint, and computational efficiency.
  8. Use application performance management tools such as AppDynamics and Splunk to measure, identify, and resolve application weakness points.
  9. Containerization and deployment of programs and systems.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Supervise/mentor associate-level software developers.

Qualifications:

  1. Required
    • Java (8/11/17) experience required.
    • Experience developing software using object-oriented designs, advanced patterns, and multi-threading is required.
    • 5+ years of experience in building large-scale, data-centric solutions. Out of which the most recent 3 years must have been spent working on production-ready applications.
    • Intermediate or higher knowledge of derivatives pricing models, econometrics models, and volatility surface modeling.
    • Knowledge of DevOps tools: Jenkins, Harness, Maven/Gradle, Nexus/Artifactory, and CI/CD pipeline.
    • Knowledge of version control, GitHub.
  2. Not required, but nice to have
    • Basic cloud experience (preferably AWS), preferably project experience in developing enterprise cloud solutions.
    • Some experience configuring and using Kubernetes & Helm.
    • Experience with high-speed distributed computing frameworks Apache Flink, AWS EMR, Hadoop, HDFS, MapReduce, Apache Spark, Kafka Streams.
    • Experience with distributed message brokers Kafka, RabbitMQ, ActiveMQ, Amazon Kinesis, etc.

Technical Skills:

Java (8/11/17), Cloud (AWS), Apache Flink, Kafka, Jenkins, Harness, Maven/Gradle.

Education and/or Experience:

BS or MS (or equivalent) degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, or Mathematics.

Certificates or Licenses:

  • Oracle Certified Professional Java SE 8/11/17 Programmer Certification is a plus.
  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate Level is a plus.
