Purpose
Coordinate and perform purchasing and contracting for the department and provide administrative support to the staff that coordinate the departmental inventory.
Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and perform purchasing and contracting for the department and research labs. Responsible for soliciting bids, securing specs, and presenting options for major purchases and contractual agreements for maintenance and services. This includes UT Market, PointPlus and departmental procurement card purchases. Serve as purchasing liaison with the Cockrell School Business Affairs Office, the university Office of Accounting, Purchasing, Accounts Payable, and other outside entities. Act as purchasing expert to provide advice and information to ensure Faculty are fully aware of their purchasing options to adhere to UT and procurement policy.
  • Serve as the departmental Procurement Card (Procard) holder. Manages all departmental Procard documentation for accuracy.
  • Serve as the primary back-up for the Department of Biomedical Engineering's Post-Award Accountant and Accounts Payable Admin.
  • Work with vendors and central University offices to complete the onboarding process including processing PIFs, direct deposit forms, and address updates.
  • Other related functions as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree with three years of relevant experience.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience working in an office environment.
  • Demonstrated creative and analytical thinking.
  • Experience with databases and working with confidential information.
  • Extensive experience using Excel and Adobe Acrobat software and comfortable with other software applications.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a business-related field.
  • Experience with UT mainframe application and web modules.
Salary Range
$55,000 + depending on qualifications.
Working Conditions
  • Standard office conditions
  • Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation
Work Shift
  • Monday - Friday, flexible between the hours of 7 am - 6 pm, with core hours of 8am-4pm. Occasional evening, weekend, or overtime hours may be required.
  • This position may be eligible for a hybrid schedule with a minimum of 3 days on campus in a shared window office.

Employment Eligibility:

Retirement Plan Eligibility:
