Mechanical Design Eng Staff

Role & Responsibilities:

Reporting to the head of the Juniper Mechanical Team, the Sr Mechanical Engineer must be a self-motivated individual to work in a fast-paced, high-energy environment with short product development cycles. This person will be responsible for the mechanical design of rack-mounted networking products from concept to RTM. The candidate must be very hands-on and have experience designing products, holding design reviews, creating BOM, prototype validation, ECO release, and putting products through regulatory compliance tests.

Must be able to initiate and consult on original and creative technical efforts. This may include the following:

1. Evaluate & integrate new technologies in cooling, interconnect & other relevant areas to develop future solution sets for Juniper products.
2. Provide project scoping and resource planning to support new product development and relevant technologies for the project. Track deliverables in support of programs and resolve cross-functional issues.
3. Responsible for leading technical decisions required on a project.
4. Takes a leadership role in the technical content of the system specification/unit function specification.
5. Establishes well-defined technical direction and aligns the direction with that of Juniper.
6. Reviews plans and writes specifications for assigned areas.
7. Identifies issues and technical interdependencies and suggests possible changes.

Education: BSME or equivalent with 7+ years relevant experience in electro-mechanical design with a concentration in either networking, storage, or server products.

Preferred: MSME or equivalent.

Expected Competencies:

1. Must be a present user of a 3D solid modeling package; proficiency with Solidworks is preferable, and working knowledge of EPDM is a plus.
2. Must be able to do Tolerance Analysis of complex systems and have working knowledge of GD&T & FEA.
3. Experience with IDF & ECAD-MCAD transfer process is preferred.
4. Knowledge of sheet metal design and manufacturing processes for low and mid-volume production is a must.
5. Good understanding of hard tooling requirements for plastic, aluminum extrusions, and aluminum die cast.
6. Good to excellent understanding of thermal design, thermal profiling, and/or managing outside resources for thermal design solutions.
7. Understanding of high-speed signal routings and large system installation in Data Center & Telco industries is preferable.
8. Good to excellent knowledge of advanced cooling technologies, including liquid cooling.
9. Good understanding of NEBS, EMI issues, EMC, Safety, and other product-specific agency compliance requirements.
10. Capable of creating & maintaining product development schedules.
11. Excellent communication skills in both department & cross-functional settings.
12. Experienced in estimating and maintaining part cost, hard tooling, and resources (both internal and external) in maintaining project budget.
13. Good understanding of overall product development.

Salary Information:

Minimum Salary: $159,200.00

Maximum Salary: $228,850.00

The pay range for this position is expected to be between $159,200.00 and $228,850.00/year; however, the base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position also includes medical benefits, 401(k) eligibility, vacation, sick time, and parental leave. Additional details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.

If hired, the employee will be in an 'at-will position,' and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.

Juniper's pay range data is provided in accordance with local state pay transparency regulations. Juniper may post different minimum wage ranges for permanent residency petitions pursuant to US Department of Labor requirements.
