Overview:
The Houston Marriott Westchase Hotel is looking for Experienced Hotel Maintenance Engineers to join our team!

Position Summary: As a Hotel General Maintenance Engineer, you play a crucial role in performing routine and preventative maintenance throughout the hotel to ensure the proper functioning of all facilities and equipment. This role involves troubleshooting issues and performing basic repairs on all types of equipment and coordinating with the maintenance staff in diagnosing potential problems ensuring a safe, attractive and comfortable environment for guests and staff.
We are a large high-rise hotel with a combined footprint including parking of almost 18 acres, and as the General Building Maintenance Engineer you will be expected to perform essential job functions in both the internal and external areas of the property daily, performing various tasks related to a variety of trades, including but not limited to carpentry, plumbing, electrical, air conditioning, painting, wall covering and masonry.
Scheduling: This is a Full-Time position that requires the availability to work both AM and PM shifts, various days of the week - schedules will change weekly and will include a combination of weekdays and weekends based on business demands.
Specifically, this role includes these primary responsibilities, including but not limited to;
Perform routine inspections and maintenance on hotel facilities, including guest rooms, common areas, and mechanical systems (HVAC, plumbing, electrical).
Troubleshoot and repair issues related to plumbing, electrical systems, appliances, and HVAC systems.
Conduct preventive maintenance on equipment and systems to minimize downtime and maintain operational efficiency, immediately repairing or reporting on mechanical, structural or safety issues in and around the hotel.
Ensure proper operation of all hotel equipment, kitchen equipment, laundry equipment, boilers, plumbing, pool equipment and HVACs.
Respond with a sense of urgency to maintenance requests from guests and staff, ensuring timely resolution of issues.
Maintain accurate records of maintenance tasks performed, including dates, descriptions, and any parts used.
Assist in managing the inventory of maintenance supplies and equipment, placing orders as necessary to ensure adequate stock.
Collaborate with other departments to coordinate maintenance activities and provide room status updates to minimize disruptions to hotel operations
Adhere to safety standards and regulations, ensuring a safe work environment for all employees and guests.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Chief Engineer.

Supportive Functions: The hotel functions seven (7) days a week and twenty-four (24) hours per day. Due to the seasonal nature and business hours of a hotel, candidates must realize it may be necessary to move an employee from their accustomed shift to meet business demands. All associates are expected to perform any other duties as requested by management to support other departments and/or operational requirements.

Capable of working in dirty, dusty, or uncomfortable surroundings, including being exposed to varying temperatures, noise levels, and hazardous materials depending on the tasks performed.
Capable of remaining in a standing position, either stationary or walking, for duration of shift.
Ability to work in, on, around, over and under fixed equipment and machinery; including working from lifts, ladders, and scaffolding; to manipulate heavy equipment, tools and supplies and reach in all directions, often overhead.
Move through various areas of the hotel, including mechanical rooms, guest rooms, public areas, and outside areas, with frequent and repeated climbing up and down stairs, throughout duration of shift.
Capable of frequent and repeated lifting, carrying, bending, stooping, and extending arms fully.
Able to strictly observe and adhere to all safety regulations and standards, and that they are being followed throughout the hotel.
Professional Licenses/Certifications:
Relevant certifications in HVAC, plumbing, electrical, or building maintenance preferred.
Education
High school diploma or equivalent, vocational training or certification in a related field preferred.
Experience
At least one (1) year of experience in general maintenance, preferably in a hotel or hospitality setting, is required.
Experience in all maintenance trades, including electrical, plumbing, mechanical, carpentry, and painting.
Experience and safety knowledge using basic hand and power tools.
Grooming/Uniforms:
All employees must maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance.
Specific uniform guidelines and/or required articles of clothing will be explained to you as a part of the orientation process.
