Disk Laser Hardware Manufacturing Engineer

JOB DESCRIPTION
We are seeking a Disk Laser Hardware manufacturing engineer in our Fremont, California facility to drive manufacturing of disk lasers. This role will closely work with our international team to build disk lasers, work on a variety of products and systems and contribute to significant, visible impact on the organization's overall success.
This work will require travel for 50% of the time to our overseas location in China.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
- Lead and Supervise Disk Laser manufacturing
- Own the process of developing, planning, executing, and reporting manufacturing processes
- Interface directly with Customers in establishing product specification, quality, and execution plans.
- Develop new methods and protocols to accelerate product and component failure modes
- Track and correct failures for products in NPI process and in normal production
- Ensure automated data collection and control of instruments. Report data and analysis
- Publish results to the business unit
- Bachelor's / Master's / PhD degree in a technical field with 15+ years of related experience
- Continuous improvement
- Knowledge of Thin-disk laser, YAG, lasers for material processing, high power lasers, pulsed lasers, ultrafast lasers is a must
- Ability to drive a team and work across international groups
- Strong interpersonal skills
- General understanding of optics, fiber optics, electronics, mechanical engineering, and chemistry
- Experience with automated data collection
- Excellent communication skills - ability to communicate work plans, schedules, resource needs
