The In-Vehicle software engineering team is responsible for building a world class user experience for Zoox riders. We provide various rider facing interfaces and build software for managing ride states.
We are looking for a full stack technical lead who can build a technical roadmap and mentor a small team of engineers. In this role, you will be responsible for the most critical in-vehicle component for what we call “Ride Management." It's the primary source of truth of the ride state and makes critical decisions about what to present to riders and other systems at any point in the ride, as well as when to react to input from various other software and hardware components. This role requires not just critical CS thinking, but also a passion for providing the best experience to the end users as well as collaboration with teams of engineers for other in-vehicle components.
In this role, you will:
- Work as a full stack engineer for both robot software as well as backend server side software development using AWS cloud.
- Know C++ and python well to understand complicated embedded systems, improve code efficiency and code quality.
- Integrate with various APIs, and build data pipelines as needed.
- Understand constraints of an embedded device as well as the benefits of the backend/cloud based system to make appropriate tradeoffs.
- Understand data and be able to quantitatively & qualitatively describe results.
- 6+ years of C++ professional development experience
- Good understanding of Linux OS and systems and/or messaging programming
- Experience with build systems, version control, and testing methodologies
- A technical background, you can learn and understand software development, and concepts such as in-vehicle components, networking, and APIs
- Robotics, automotive or embedded HW experience.
- Experience with IoT hardware such as Raspberry Pi, Arduino, etc.
- Product security-related work experience.
- Familiarity with networking, TCP/IP, and sockets programming.
- API development experience in Python (graphql, REST)
- Experience with AWS, SQL/NoSQL databases (MySQL, Postgres, DynamoDB)Android development experience.
Compensation
The salary range for this position is $174,000 to $294,000. Compensation will vary based on geographic location and level. Leveling, as well as positioning within a level, is determined by a range of factors, including, but not limited to, a candidate's relevant years of experience, domain knowledge, and interview performance. The salary range listed in this posting is representative of the range of levels Zoox is considering for this position. Additional benefits may be offered.
