Lead Network Engineer

ASSYST is looking for a Lead Network Engineer to work from our HQ in Sterling, VA.

The candidate must be a US citizen capable of obtaining a clearance as required.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Manage team of network engineers, Windows/Linux servers, on-premise and cloud infrastructure.
2. Troubleshoot hardware, software related issues and document lessons learned.
3. Work with the internal and external auditors on process improvement and/or security enhancement initiatives.
4. Design, provision, and install routers, switches, peripheral devices.
5. Create and interpret network drawings using Visio and other tools.
6. Collaborate with vendors, ISPs, and other departments to order, procure, coordinate changes, installations, and relocations of hardware/software.
7. Participate in project status and change management meetings.

Qualifications:

1. Overall 12+ years of IT industry experience.
2. Bachelor's Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or a related technical field.
3. Advanced experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS, Microsoft Azure) preferred.
4. Knowledge of UNIX/LINUX command line, scripting tools (Python, Bash), web servers deployment, and disaster recovery best practices.
5. Strong experience in network design, implementation, and troubleshooting at a senior level.
6. Proficient in creating and interpreting network drawings and specifications.
7. Hands-on experience with network infrastructure protocols (DNS, DHCP, HTTP, Samba, 802.11x).
