Job Summary
Client facing role to manage shipments from the project facility at Berkeley to Waste Recovery Park. Support the management of the NWS Metallic Framework including client interface with NWS, NRS and management of projects.
It is intended that the role is based at Berkeley with working from home Fridays, although being based at another Augean location would be considered. A four-day 40hr working week to align with NRS might be considered for the right candidate.
Occasional travel to other Augean Sites.
Key Responsibilities
- Proactively support and embed Augean’s safety culture, behaviour and values across all services and associated activities. Support operations and the development of waste treatment and disposal services ensuring the health and safety of the public, environment and staff.
- Ensure compliance with the relevant environmental permits, regulatory guidance, framework contracts and company management system.
- Produce waste management documentation, to include collation of records and preparation of document packs to accompany each shipment of waste from Berkeley Site to the Waste Recovery Park at Port Clarence.
- Liaise with Accredited Laboratories to manage analysis and timely turn around of results.
- Assessment of analytical results.
- Derivation of radiochemical fingerprints.
- Undertake BAT/BPM Assessments.
- Liaise with both NRS and NWS to ensure approval of document packs.
- Liaise with hauliers to arrange transport of waste shipments.
- Undertake inspections of the waste and facilities.
- Support the Project Manager as required.
- Maintaining continuous professional development and competence for the role.
- Any other reasonable duties as and when required.
Critical Qualifications
- Technical/Chemistry/Physics qualifications to degree level.
- Working towards one or more professional qualification such as RPA and RWA; having these qualifications is a bonus but not critical.
- Good command of the English language and capability to write and formulate factual and business reports.
- Competent in the use of Microsoft office.
- Full UK drivers licence.
- This role may require security vetting to UK Government Baseline Personnel Security Standard.
Critical Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- Demonstrable knowledge and industry experience of the radioactive and/or hazardous waste sector, legislation and regulatory guidance in the UK.
- Knowledge of waste routing and conditions for acceptance/acceptance criteria.
- Knowledge of Very Low Level, Low Level and combustible wastes.
- Knowledge of metallic waste treatment options.
- Knowledge of other radioactive waste treatment services – including but not limited to near surface disposal, incineration, stabilisation and decontamination.
- Knowledge of radiological protection requirements.
- Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
- Knowledge of UK hazardous/radioactive waste services market.
- Knowledge and experience of NWS frameworks and waste consignment processes would be very beneficial but not required.
- Knowledge and understanding of current, relevant radioactive and hazardous waste legislation in respect of the identification, assessment, preparing for transport, road haulage, treatment and disposal.
