We are actively looking for a Rail Engineer to join our Rail team. As part of the Rail Group, the Rail Engineer manages project tasks of rail transportation projects.

Duties and responsibilities:

- Produces rail design project tasks including geometric design, civil and drainage design.
- Collects field data, documenting and reporting field conditions and findings.
- Produces 2D concept plans and schematics and confidently communicates rail design options to the project team.
- Produces 3D rail designs using Civil3D or OpenRail to verify project requirements are met and project is viable.
- Performs first round quality assurance/quality control of other team member's work.
- Performs mentorship of junior team members.
- Assists with completion of field work.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering; required.
- EIT or FE required.
- 1 to 4 years of experience in transportation or rail/transit engineering.
- MicroStation / GEOPAK or AutoCAD / Civil 3D experience required.
- Microsoft Office software experience.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Valid Driver's License and a clean driving record.
- Availability and willingness to travel.
- OpenRoad / OpenRail design software experience, preferred.
- Experience with AREMA, Class 1 railroad, and/or commuter rail/transit agency design criteria and standards, preferred.
- PE license or ability to obtain within 6 months, preferred.
- All new hires will be required to successfully complete and pass a pre-employment (post offer) background check in compliance with NIST 800-171.

Working conditions:
Majority of work is office-based. Some site visits may be required which may necessitate navigating unpaved or natural terrain while carrying equipment.
