Job Description

CD PROJEKT RED is looking for a Lead PCG/Tools Engineer to join our office in Boston to work on Project Orion, the follow-up to Cyberpunk 2077 and the next major video game in the Cyberpunk franchise. In this role, you will lead the Orion Team responsible for developing procedural tools to enable designers and artists to deliver on the vision of the game.

In this job, you will lead and manage the Orion team that develops procedural tools, including generations of cities, environments, interiors, and characters to help designers and artists deliver the vision of the game. Programming will also be required.

Daily Responsibilities:

  1. Manage your direct reports and help them grow in their role and ambitions, including setting up 1:1s, performance management, hiring, and promotions.
  2. Work closely with designers, artists, and other developers to understand their needs and ensure that your team is aligned with everyone to deliver on the expectations.
  3. Guide your team to build and enhance PCG tools, focusing on scalability, efficiency, and ease of use within Unreal Engine.
  4. Ensure the tooling pipeline is running efficiently across the board.
  5. Research emerging trends in PCG, tools development, and Unreal Engine.
  6. Foster cross-functional collaboration to ensure the tools contribute effectively to all game systems and components.
  7. Write high-quality code that is optimized, bug-free, and aligned with project goals.

Qualifications

  1. At least 7 years of professional experience as a programmer within the games industry.
  2. Strong proficiency in C++ programming and knowledge of Unreal Engine.
  3. Experience with current-gen console hardware.
  4. A good understanding of geometric algorithms and data structures.
  5. Ability to think creatively and strategically to overcome technical challenges and drive innovation in technology.
  6. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  7. Unreal experience with PCG experience or equivalent.

Nice to have:

  1. Professional experience with Houdini.
  2. Experience in performance/memory optimization.
  3. Experience developing with Xbox and PlayStation.

This job can be hybrid/in-office from Boston or fully remote.
