WSP is currently initiating a search for a Senior OCS Engineer to work out of our Portland, OR location.

Your Impact

• Ensure that company technical policies and procedures are practiced during the execution of projects;
• Develop design approaches and concepts for projects including Power Distribution Design for Light Rail, Heavy Rail, Commuter Rail, and High Speed Rail, utilizing overhead contact or third rail systems;
• Prepare overhead contact system studies for AC and DC electrified railway systems;
• Develop and review designs and technical specifications, meeting quality standards;
• Develop construction cost estimates;
• Develop design/engineering cost estimates;
• Assist project managers in the coordination of project designs with other disciplines including attendance at project meetings;
• Review shop drawings, record changes, and communicate directly with suppliers, contractors, and client representatives as required;
• Perform field inspections as needed;
• Train and develop support staff;
• Participate in WSP’s quality process for all deliverables;
• Lead technical aspects of contract negotiation, presentations, and meetings;
• Meet with various public or private entities to discuss issues relating to engineering/construction challenges and programs;
• Manage and provide performance guidance and leadership to assigned staff;
• Collaborate with professionals from various disciplines to provide trusted advisor service and future-ready solutions for clients;
• Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources, and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures;
• Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, or closely related discipline.
• 5 to 7 years of relevant post-education experience in engineering and prior transit and rail experience.
• Engineer in Training Certification.
• Support and participate in the Systems implementation phase of projects, such as installation, Testing & Commissioning, Cutover, Record Drawings and final reports.
• Support procurement efforts by authoring technical requirements and specifications, performing vendor bid evaluations and supporting vendor selection.
• Commissioning of Traction Power Distribution Systems and Equipment, including experience with engineering design on at least three transit or commuter/intercity rail projects;
• Good written and verbal communications skills and understanding of the English language;
• Experience in a MicroStation and AutoCAD design environment for the development of Overhead Contact System design drawings;
• Functional knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of applications;
• Immediate availability to work in the US.
• Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
• Must be flexible to a variety of schedules to meet business needs and able to prioritize responsibilities and quickly adapt to change in a pressure work environment.
• Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in Engineering.
• Essential Professional Licensure/Certification.
• Ability to perform site investigations in medium voltage (MV) substations and along electrified railroad.
