Senior Mechanical Engineer

The ECI Group, the world’s leading specialist engineering contractor for design of polymer processing facilities has an opening for an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer in our Baton Rouge office.

YOUR ROLE WITH THE COMPANY:

1. Function as the Mechanical Engineering Lead on project tasks such as manhour estimation, project recruitment, progress tracking and reporting, leading a team of engineers.
2. The role will interface with other internal engineering disciplines as well as external project team members such as the client or license provider.
3. As a Senior Mechanical Engineer , you will be responsible for design and specification for both stationary equipment (pressure vessels and heat exchangers), rotating equipment (compressors, pumps, etc.), and machinery packages (thermal oxidizers, pneumatic conveying systems, extruder/pelletizers, and other types of packaged equipment).
4. Requisitioning experience is required with fixed and rotating equipment.
5. Previous experience with machinery/packages such as:
1. Process Gas Compressor Packages (API 618)
2. Reciprocating Pumps
3. Hydraulic Power Units
6. Develop equipment specifications and become knowledgeable on the equipment necessary for each project.
7. Prepare and check technical inquiry documents (requisitions, datasheets/specifications, etc.).
8. Review supplier technical quotes and prepare technical bid analysis.
9. Attend/run post-order kick-off meetings.
10. Review supplier design documents and coordinate with equipment supplier.
11. Travel to witness inspections.
12. Attend kick-off meetings or client sites.

BACKGROUND PROFILE:

1. Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering is required.
2. 8+ years of related experience in engineering design of oil & gas, petrochemical or plastics plants.
3. Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills.
4. General understanding of the entire cradle-to-grave workflow for an EPC Project, interdepartmental dependencies, recognition of the importance of TIC rather than individual constituents that make up the whole.
5. Must be capable of working as part of a close-knit small core team as well as being self-reliant with the confidence to make decisions acting on their own initiative.
6. Organized with the ability to support multiple concurrent projects.
7. Knowledge and understanding of industry codes, product safety standards, regulations, etc.
8. Comfortable with occasional opportunities for international travel.

PREFERRED SKILLS:

1. PE License in Texas and Louisiana or ability to obtain within 6 - 12 months.
2. API 618 Reciprocating Compressors and API 674 and API 675 Positive Displacement Pumps experience.
3. ASME Section VIII Division 1 and 2 pressure vessels.
4. Experience with other machinery/packages such as thermal oxidizers, pneumatic conveying systems, extruder/pelletizers, and other types of packaged equipment preferred.
