This employee will be responsible for assembling, repairing, and modifying electronic equipment, parts, components, and systems. At times, manufacturing support may be required at the pace to meet the production schedule. The employee may also be responsible for inspection and electrical test activities.
Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and test battery components and products.
  • Support Engineering in prototype development, board level and functional testing as needed,
  • Supporting requests within the Engineering team to make board patches and modifications, outside of standard soldering standards for prototypes.
  • Inspection of circuit boards to ensure quality and reliability of workmanship.
  • Management of components inventory for board assembly.
  • Set up and selection of tools suitable to perform the work.
  • Testing of boards or components according to written test procedures.
  • Support of procedure reviews with Engineering to improve/refine/develop testing and assembly processes.
  • Use of standard electronics equipment, such as DMMs, power supply, oscilloscopes, Modbus, and inspection tools.
  • Written and spoken communication with the team around work status and inventory needs.
  • Additional responsibilities may be assigned at any time based on department and business needs
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Ability to professionally solder both surface mount and through hole components.
  • Ability to read a Bill of Material parts list to identify locations of components to solder.
  • Knowledge of electronics components, such as directions and orientations to install components.
  • Experience with managing components during assembly work and supporting re-orders as needed to maintain supplies.
  • Capability to document work done and keep records for Quality Assurance.
  • Familiarity with ESD and soldering safety requirements.
  • Competency in reading and analyzing electrical diagrams and circuit schematics.
  • Support of electrical/circuit testing and technical troubleshooting required.
  • Experience with design and development support, like constructing and troubleshooting prototypes and first-piece builds.
  • Ability to aid engineering with design, review, and proofreading activities around new procedure development.
  • Basic Familiarity with microcontroller programming.
  • Fully comfortable and proficient using Microsoft Word, Excel.
  • Comfort working independently to complete needed work without strong oversight.
  • Strong communications and organizational skills for managing time and completing tasks.
  • Experience with the following a plus:
  • Knowledge of soldering standards, such as IPC-J-STD-001, IPC-A-600 and IPC-A-610
  • Familiar with C/C++ or LabView programming
Education and Experience
  • Associate's degree or equivalent experience in electrical engineering required.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience.
Travel
  • Local Travel
  • Overnight/North America: 30% to support other work or field sites.
Working Conditions
  • Office Environment - Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time and occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc. Required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading. May be required to exert up to 25 pounds of force occasionally to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
  • Factory - The worker may be subject to hazards. Includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, vibration, moving vehicles, electrical current, exposure to temperature changes or exposure to chemicals. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to fumes, airborne particles, odors, dust, mists, and gases. The noise level in the work environment can be loud. Required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication parts at distances close to the eyes. Machinery operation requires the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to eye safety glasses, hearing protectors, work boots, and lab coats. May be required to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
