Reliability Engineer - Electrical Equipment

Location: North Dakota Bakken Asset


We're looking for a proactive and skilled Reliability Engineer to take the lead in optimizing the reliability of electrical equipment across our client's North Dakota Bakken Asset. In this role, you'll collaborate with cross-functional teams-Operations, Maintenance, Reliability, and Global Supply Chain-to enhance the performance of critical infrastructure, from Wells & Pads to the Tioga Gas Plant.


What You'll Do:


1. Reliability Improvement:

  • Develop and refine maintenance strategies and influence equipment standards for electrical motors, control centers, drives, and more.
  • Lead root cause analysis to address recurring issues and ensure the success of corrective actions.
  • Recommend and implement equipment upgrades that reduce maintenance costs and enhance operational reliability.
  • Analyze predictive maintenance data and drive follow-up actions.
  • Report on key performance indicators (KPIs) to ensure continuous improvement.


2. Troubleshooting & Operational Support:

  • Collaborate with Operations and Maintenance teams to troubleshoot electrical equipment.
  • Advise on scope development for critical equipment repairs.
  • Provide expertise to Process and Reliability Engineers on equipment capabilities and improvement opportunities.


3. Maintenance in Projects:

  • Support new infrastructure projects by ensuring reliability and operability are top priorities.
  • Offer technical guidance on equipment modifications and provide assurance for the Management of Change (MOC) process.
  • Review and approve electrical installation drawings to align with company standards and codes.

Work Environment:

This is an office-based role (Minot or Tioga) with a 5/2 or 9/80 work schedule and field visits as needed.


What You Bring:

  • 5+ years of experience with fixed equipment or technical disciplines.
  • Familiarity with Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) tools.
  • Strong knowledge of plant and oil & gas equipment, including motors, MCCs, VFDs, and electrical distribution systems.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and SAP; Spotfire and SQL knowledge is a plus.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent).
