DescriptionSargent & Lundy’s Government Services Division provides cutting-edge engineering and consulting to the management and operating contractors for the US Department of Energy (DOE) and the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA). This critical engineering work is meaningful and challenging – work you can be proud to have been a part of.WORK LOCATION: This position allows for a hybrid work schedule with a mix of work spent on site and working remote from home.As a Senior Electrical Lead Engineer, you will be assigned to multiple project teams and coordinate with other disciplines and lead the electrical team members in the execution of their project work. The projects may involve the design of new and/or modifications and upgrades to existing facilities, structures, systems, and components. In addition to personally performing and contributing to the engineering efforts, you will help to communicate project status and coordinate resources from multiple Sargent & Lundy (S&L) offices. It is anticipated that the majority of the work will be associated with Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) and the Sandia National Laboratory (SNL); however, there may be opportunities to participate in projects around the Department of Energy Complex (such as WIPP, Pantex, Hanford, etc.). Working under the direction of the New Mexico Operations Vice President who is based in Albuquerque, this position will offer you the opportunity to utilize and expand your skills in design, management, and client management.Key responsibilities include:Leading project engineering teams and mentoring other electrical engineersPreparing design drawings, engineering analyses, and construction specificationsLeading engineering studies, alternative analyses, and conceptual design efforts to drive scope of workInterfacing directly with clients and leading technical aspects of client presentationsOverseeing engineering support of construction and field activities for completed designs, including submittal reviews, resolving constructor questions, reviewing test reports, etc.Overseeing deliverables by providing peer reviews and/or independent design reviews of work by other electrical engineersClose coordination with and management of client interfaces and scope of work as technical leadResource planning, coordination of resources, and assistance with integration of project participantsInternal and external tracking, management, and reporting of project budget and schedule progressLead efforts to ensure projects are completed satisfactorily, on time, and within budgetQualificationsMust be a U.S. Citizen; Dual citizenship with a country other than the U.S. does not qualify.We do not sponsor employees for work authorization in the U.S. for this position.Essential skills and experience:Must be able to pass a U.S. Government security clearance check; a DOE Q clearance is preferredThis position requires a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited engineering programExperience with electrical engineering software for design and analysis, including SKM PowerTools, AutoCAD, and lighting design softwareCandidates shall possess a working knowledge of operations in DOE nuclear facilitiesCandidate shall have at least 12 years of experienceFamiliarity with NQA-1 Quality Assurance programs and proceduresGood verbal and written communication skills along with strong PC skills are requiredKnowledge of codes and standards for electrical work, NFPA 70, 70E, 101, IEEE, etc.PE license or on path to obtain one in first year3 or more years of experience in leading an engineering design team through all phases of a project designExperience with serving as firm/client liaison in a support or lead engineering roleExperience in reviewing design drawings created by othersValued but not required skills and experience:Experience in engineering design using Building Information Modeling (BIM) softwareConstruction planning, oversight, and safety, especially in a highly regulated environment like a DOE national laboratory, is highly desirableConstruction and start-up experience a plusCommissioning experience a plusSargent & Lundy is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action employer.
