Senior Engineering Manager -- Teamwork Knowledge Graph AI

We are looking for a senior engineering manager to join the Teamwork Graph team and lead a group of talented engineers who are responsible for helping build and deploy the knowledge graph of how teams work together. The graph enables various Atlassian products to work together more effectively. You will work closely with the Teamwork Platform leadership team to define and execute the vision and strategy for data architecture, indexing, and various APIs using AI models as applicable. You will also collaborate with the federated product teams and other central orgs to integrate the Teamwork knowledge deeply in various products such as Search, Jira, Confluence, and many upcoming ones. The graph will also be a key input to Atlassian Intelligence and AI powered products.
Responsibilities:
- Process and structure large amounts of graph data to power applications across Atlassian.
- Design great APIs.
- Mentor and coach your team members on best practices, code quality, design patterns, testing, debugging, and documentation.
- Hire, onboard, and retain top talent for your team and foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and excellence.
- Communicate effectively with internal and external partners, present technical concepts and results clearly and concisely, and solicit feedback and input from various stakeholders.
- Creative use of generative AI and ML to process, structure, and reason over large amounts of data to power intelligent products.
Experience:
- 5+ years of experience managing engineering teams running core services at scale.
- Experience building and scaling business applications and systems using large amounts of data.
- Ability to communicate and explain data science concepts to diverse audiences, craft a compelling story.
- Build generalizable platforms with a keen eye on empowering applications in product.
- Agile development mindset, appreciating the benefit of iteration and improvement.
- Experience working with LLMs and RAG is a bonus.
Compensation
At Atlassian, we strive to design equitable, explainable, and competitive compensation programs. The baseline of our range is higher than that of the typical market range. Base pay within the range is ultimately determined by a candidate's skills, expertise, or experience. In the United States, we have three geographic pay zones. For this role, our current base pay ranges for new hires in each zone are:
Zone A: $205,700 - $274,300
Zone B: $185,200 - $246,900
Zone C: $170,800 - $227,700
This role may also be eligible for benefits, bonuses, commissions, and equity.
