Stanley Consultants is currently seeking a Senior Civil Engineer to perform Federal airfield paving, site development, and other infrastructure designs. Preferred office locations are Austin TX, Baton Rouge LA, Chicago IL, Denver CO, Des Moines IA, Iowa City IA, Minneapolis MN, Muscatine IA, or Phoenix AZ.
The successful candidate will exercise judgment in evaluating, selecting, and applying standard design engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria to make design decisions and modifications. The position will include plan and specification preparation. The position will be initially accountable to the Federal Civil Department manager while working with Project Managers for project. The candidate will potentially lead a team of civil engineers, designers, & technicians with responsibility for delegating work tasks, managing the work schedule and ensuring proper work coordination amongst the team and with other technical disciplines. The candidate will be expected to mentor younger staff on design projects.
Work will be on projects primarily for Department of Defense & other federal clients from a variety of branches and districts. Projects will utilize domestic and international standards. Assignments will occasionally include projects for local municipalities, private industrial clients, utility operators and public institutions.
Job responsibilities:
- Prepare designs & calculations in support for building site, airfield, and other infrastructure projects
- Interprets, organizes, executes, and coordinates technical design engineering assignments involving unique or controversial problems which significantly affect major projects
- Plans, organizes, and recommends programs and resources for the discipline to meet the objectives of the technical organization
- Determines client requirements and develops specifications, drawings, instructions, and related documents
- Prepares and modifies reports, specifications, plans, construction schedules, environmental studies, and designs for projects
- Evaluates need for design changes and makes appropriate recommendations
- Serves as technical liaison with clients on project efforts and coordinates technical efforts within design areas
- Assists in the coordination of pricing, estimating, scoping, and marketing strategies for proposed projects
- Consults with construction personnel concerning design constructability as related to field conditions, sequencing, and scheduling of construction activities
- Attends onsite and offsite client meetings.
- Occasional local, domestic, and international travel for project purposes. International travel may be approximately 1-2-week durations
Skills, education, and experience:
- Bachelor of Science in Civil engineering from an accredited four-year college or university required
- 10+ years relevant experience
- Experience with US military building codes and standards (UFC) and airfield design experience required.
- Knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D software and tools for the development of building site, airfield, utility, and other infrastructure required
- Must be able to work in a multi-office, multi-discipline team environment
- Must possess strong virtual communications skills to work in dispersed teams.
- Must be proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- The following skills/experience are preferred, but not required:
- AutoCAD Civil 3D software and tools for the development of building site, airfield, utility, and other infrastructure
- Microstation / Open Roads experience
- Experience with site and/or land development
Certifications:
- PE registration/license required

Base Compensation : $103,300 - $137,600
