Job Requirements / Description

This well establish manufacturing of US made electromechanical devices is expanding its product development team and is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer with a knack for hands-on full cycle product development as well as a proven track record of leadership capabilities.  

Essential Functions:

  • Lead, manage, and mentor a team of mechanical engineers.
  • Oversee the design, development, and implementation of mechanical systems and products.
  • Lead in the development of product specifications required for design and testing.
  • Lead critical design reviews to anticipate deficiencies and opportunities for design improvement.
  • Identify and mitigate project risks and ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to the engineering team.
  • Develop and implement engineering processes and procedures.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure project success.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Complies with safety policies and procedures.
  • Complies with safety policies, practices and procedures.
Required Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in mechanical engineering design, electro-mechanical product development and product lifecycle management, with at least 2 years of experience leading a team.
  • Experience with designing plastic components, working with vendors through the tooling design, approval and production process preferred. 
Special Skills & Qualifications:              
  • Proficient with SolidWorks and / or Inventor
  • Experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA), preferably mold flow analysis tools
  • Experience with Engineering Change Requests (ECR), Bill of Materials (BOM) work instructions and design documentation
  • Knowledge of Design for Manufacturing (DFM) & Design for Assembly (DFA)
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical engineering principles and practices
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously; strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in engineering software and tools; proficient in the use of Microsoft Office products for creating tables, charts, and reports.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
