Network Engineer- DOCSIS/CMTS
Description
Docsis and CMTS are required (and a little Pon GPON/EPON)
This is the most Senior Team - operations support - front line team handling field defects for devices – modems, APs, config changes, etc.
They collect live data from the field.
This team replicates the production environment to recreate the problem, investigate problems, and resolve issues.
Working with a vendor to solve these defects – last line of defense. Also partner with operations to collect live data from the field.
P0-P1 – troubleshoot – take information from the field. Reproduce in lab, work with vendors to see if the fix works – if it does – work with the vendor to implement
CMTSs - Must have worked on these devices, They have mostly Cisco, some Juniper and a little Adtran - not as important
DUTIES
Troubleshoots and resolves escalated Access and CPE device field issues.
Performs assessments on existing technologies to determine performance and capacity gaps.
Establishes security, connectivity and access parameters.
Provides recommendations to optimize network infrastructure.
Tests and tunes security devices and systems.
Programs and configures routers and switches.
Implements communications technologies (data or voice).
Manages network services from planning phase through implementation.
Solid knowledge of routing protocols, network hardware and software, security technologies and network infrastructure is required.
Ability to write technical documentation / Ability to write and follow detailed technical test plans
CPE and ONU background in trouble shooting is highly desirable
Creative Network Troubleshooting skills.

Working knowledge of CMTS platforms including:

Working knowledge of EPON platforms including:
