The Service Factory team is seeking a passionate Backend Software Engineer to join a full-stack development team to advance Blue Origin's vision. This position will directly impact the history of space exploration and will require your commitment and detailed attention towards safe and repeatable space flight. As part of the development team, you will use the latest architectures and technologies in AWS to accelerate the development and adoption of multi-tenant SaaS capabilities across Blue Origin in service of Blue's mission and beyond. This position requires a passion for innovation, bias for action and a commitment to operational excellence.

Responsibilities:

  1. Member of a full-stack software development team (Scrum).
  2. Participate in the development and maintenance of multi-tenant SaaS applications for new and existing capabilities.
  3. Actively participate in the different Scrum ceremonies as a team member.
  4. Contribute to standards and best practices and coach and mentor fellow and junior engineers.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent work experience.
  2. 5+ years of experience as a Software Engineer developing enterprise-grade SaaS applications.
  3. Experience working on a full-stack software development team in an agile development (Scrum preferred) with at least 3 years working in one or more of the following areas:
    1. Backend development (REST APIs, asynchronous messaging) preferably in Java or Python.
    2. Data engineering with relational and non-relational datastores.
    3. Infrastructure as code (with CDK or similar), CI/CD pipelines and security controls.
  4. Exposure to modern microservice-based software architectures (Java preferred) and containerized or serverless environments.
  5. Experience working in public clouds (AWS preferred) with infrastructure-as-code.
  6. A passion for innovation, learning and sharing knowledge.
  7. Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion.
  8. Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Desired:

  1. AWS Cloud Practitioner or Associate Certification.
  2. Experience with Java and Spring Boot, React.
  3. Experience with data-intensive applications.

Compensation range for on-site WA applicants is $141,480-$207,504. Compensation range for on-site CA applicants is $141,480-$207,504. Other site ranges may differ.
