This structural engineering position supports design projects after permit stage. This support includes RFI's, field visits and repairs, structural component analysis, submittal reviews, along with any other post permitting items that can put a halt to construction. Fast paced, high energy, quick thinking are a few words that would describe this structural engineer. As an Engineer for Fieldstone A&E, you'll be working alongside our dedicated team of client managers, architects, engineers and designers. Duties & Responsibilities

  • Manages incoming client issues through Fieldstone's ticket system.
  • Determines client issues, root cause and repair of the issue.
  • Manages RFI's and submittals.
  • Works with Client to handle permit rejections.
  • Performs fieldwork, documentation, research and drafting tasks of architectural and engineering data as requested by clients or managers.
  • Field inspections and some travel to the field.
  • Maintains dynamic communication with contractors, clients, staff and the general public for any architectural, engineering or construction issues.
  • Consistently applies Fieldstone's Quality Control procedures and takes ownership of their work.
  • Maintains and complies with Fieldstone and client-specific standards (CAD, File Management, etc.).
  • Participates in occasional team meetings to help resolve project issues such as coordination, scheduling, and technical concerns.
  • Fosters a culture of external and internal client service.
Required Knowledge
  • Engineering Calculations & Design
  • Concrete, Masonry, Steel and Timber design
  • High-wind speed and Seismic
  • Residential and commercial structures
  • Analysis, reports & opinions
  • Development of construction documents
  • Repairs and Signing and Sealing
Required Skills
  • Expert knowledge of residential and/or commercial construction techniques, construction documents, and CAD concepts. Significant knowledge of building codes.
  • Structural software experience (RAM, TEDDS, Woodworks, FORTE)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to manage and successfully prioritize workload.
  • Consistent ability to successfully meet deadlines.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally.
  • Ability to produce deliverables with little or no guidance other than standards.
Required Experience
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in civil or structural engineering required. Master's degree preferred.
  • 2 plus years' design experience required.
  • NCEES Registration preferred
  • Structural Engineering: 2 years' experience.
