The Company

PayPal has been revolutionizing commerce globally for more than 25 years. Creating innovative experiences that make moving money, selling, and shopping simple, personalized, and secure, PayPal empowers consumers and businesses in approximately 200 markets to join and thrive in the global economy.

We operate a global, two-sided network at scale that connects hundreds of millions of merchants and consumers. We help merchants and consumers connect, transact, and complete payments, whether they are online or in person. PayPal is more than a connection to third-party payment networks. We provide proprietary payment solutions accepted by merchants that enable the completion of payments on our platform on behalf of our customers.

We offer our customers the flexibility to use their accounts to purchase and receive payments for goods and services, as well as the ability to transfer and withdraw funds. We enable consumers to exchange funds more safely with merchants using a variety of funding sources. Our PayPal, Venmo, and Xoom products also make it safer and simpler for friends and family to transfer funds to each other. We offer merchants an end-to-end payments solution that provides authorization and settlement capabilities, as well as instant access to funds and payouts. Our beliefs are the foundation for how we conduct business every day. We live each day guided by our core values of Inclusion, Innovation, Collaboration, and Wellness.

Job Description Summary: As a Principal Designer within the Global Design team, you will work alongside your cross-functional peer group to influence strategic design decisions and ultimately deliver stellar end-to-end experiences across platforms and form factors.

Your Way to Impact:

As a Principal Designer within the Global Consumer Experience Design team, you will work alongside your cross-functional peer group to influence strategic design decisions and ultimately deliver the best possible app and web experiences.

Expect an immersive, fast-paced environment, influencing multiple projects, while flexing your skills as an effective communicator - especially when it comes to relaying creative concepts to our design teams and company stakeholders.

Your Day to Day:

  • Influence within the Purchase (B2C) portion of the customer journey.
  • Support and inspire creative vision and the standard of output across our team.
  • Apply a customer-focused, iterative design process.
  • Make design decisions based on research and insights, as well as advocate for continuous learning and inclusive design best practices.
  • Collaborate with other cross-functional Design team members and Product and Engineering stakeholders.
  • Ask smart questions, take risks, and champion new ideas.

What You Need to Bring:

  • A successful candidate will have at least 8+ years of experience in a senior UX role.
  • A portfolio and use cases to share and speak to your design process is required.
  • Proven experience in influencing and inspiring highly talented and productive teams.
  • Have a thorough command of the UX lifecycle with deep, direct experience in all skill areas and tools.
  • Be excited about collaborating and communicating closely with teams and other stakeholders.
  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a visual or experiential design discipline is preferred but not required.
  • It’s recommended you include your portfolio directly on your resume.

We know the confidence gap and imposter syndrome can get in the way of meeting spectacular candidates. Please don't hesitate to apply.
