Windows Client Engineer, Region Services Operations (RSO) - VECTOR Team
Region Services Corporate Infrastructure (RSCI) is looking for an experienced Windows Client Systems Engineer with a deep knowledge of Windows desktop services, including virtual desktops and infrastructure. Our mission is to deliver robust, highly available, and easy to use services to our internal customers in support of the Amazon Dedicated Cloud for U.S. Government customers. We are looking for a motivated engineer to deliver results for our customers. This is a hands-on position where your daily role will maintain and enhance existing services, including Windows build / deployment capabilities, fulfilling requests for application packaging / deployment and break / fix scenarios for all technologies the team manages. This role will work closely with the Security Compliance team to ensure security compliance with all desktop environments.
You will have a strong and diverse technical background that allows you to approach problems with confidence and ingenuity. You must be a “lifelong learner”, embracing the rapid innovations in technology and understanding how to leverage them to continue to improve our products. A successful Windows Client Engineer will drive the design and implementation of new services, find ways to improve and automate our existing services, and provide escalation and mentoring for junior team members.
This position available onsite at Herndon, VA., Arlington, VA., and Columbia, MD.
This position requires that the candidate selected must currently possess and maintain an active TS/SCI security clearance with polygraph. The position further requires the candidate to opt into a commensurate clearance for each government agency for which they perform AWS work.

Key job responsibilities
-Provide first line of support to the IT Service Desk Team
- Maintain Desktop OS Images/VDI templates
- Client patching
- Security compliance to include hardening the OS and desktop applications.
- Manage desktop metrics and monitoring services.
- Creates and updates system documentation for engineering, operations, and support teams.

- Associate's degree, or Cloud+ or GICSP (Global Industrial Cyber Security Professional) or GSEC (GIAC Security Essentials) or SSCP (Systems Security Certified Practitioner)
- Five (5+) years supporting Windows family of operating systems to include four (4) of the following eight (8) core competencies: AD, DHCP, Powershell, Email workflow, SCCM, SCOM, Win OS, DNS, and disaster recovery/business continuity.
- Knowledge of networking basic skills and troubleshooting.
- Demonstrated ability to script in the Windows environment using PowerShell.
- Experience administering, maintaining and operating Active Directory Windows based networks.
- Experience automating tasks such as, software packaging and deployment, automated security patching, and Operating System Deployment.
- Demonstrable track record dealing w/ ambiguity, prioritizing needs, and delivering measurable results.
- Clear verbal and written communication skills necessary to create and collaborate with others with regard to technical documentation such as: Standard Operating Procedures, Run-books, Job Sheets.
- Associates Degree or Higher in Computer related field.
- Current Cloud+ or GICSP or GSEC or SSCP certification
- Experience with PowerShell (preferred), Python, Ruby, or Java
- Excellent problem solving skills with a strong attention to detail
- Meets/exceeds Amazon’s leadership principles requirements for this role
- Meets/exceeds Amazon’s functional/technical depth and complexity for this role

The base pay for this position ranges from $105,200/year in our lowest geographic market up to $188,200/year in our highest geographic market.
