Position: Sybase DBA Expert
Work Location: Princeton, NJ
Duration: 6 months

Job Description

1. Database Administrator with 14-18+ years of experience in Sybase database administration.
2. Database monitoring, troubleshooting, performance tuning, and high-availability strategies with Sybase/Oracle in a production environment.
3. Administering, maintaining, developing, and recommending policies and procedures for ensuring the performance, availability, security, and integrity of the company’s databases and systems.
4. Proactively monitoring production databases for optimum performance; resolving locking conflicts/blocking and resource utilization.
5. Identifying and resolving database performance issues, capacity issues, and other database-related issues.
6. Performing regular deployments, scheduled maintenance, and housekeeping.
7. Anticipating hardware requirements and storage capacity planning for production, test, and development environments; implementing replication, archiving, and backup and recovery strategies.
8. Ensuring availability and integrity of all database environments.

Skill Set

1. 14-18+ years in Sybase Database Administration.
2. 6 years in performance tuning of Sybase/Oracle.
3. Supported multiple servers and databases in 24x7 environments.
4. 5+ years of Transact-SQL experience in high-volume transaction processing environments.
5. Strong experience in performance tuning on Sybase/Oracle; experience with data integrity and data retention.
6. Strong experience in database performance optimization.
7. Advanced knowledge of SQL Profiler and server-side traces.
8. Solid understanding of clustering and RDBMS storage optimization.
9. Strong Sybase ASE experience.
10. Good experience in Sybase IQ or MS SQL Server.
