Summary: This position is a hands-on Mechanical Engineer with a focus on New Product Development. This role is responsible for supporting all efforts related to the design, development, and integration of Mechanical and Electrical systems into our Pellet grilling products. In this role, you will work with a global cross-functional team to design and implement ideas using CAD models, drawings, cost estimates, prototyping, and testing products. This position will gather product requirements and translate them into actionable specifications.
Responsibilities:
- Lead fast paced, complex NPD projects from concept to completion
- Develop solutions through requirements decomposition, Design Failure Mode Effect Analysis (DFMEA), P-Diagrams, and Design Verification Plan and Report (DVP&R)
- Create and refine design solutions to identified product requirements, formalize designs with the use of CAD (SolidWorks) for sub-systems
- Create and maintain Master Assembly (MASM)
- Ensure that products are designed to meet all performance specifications and regulatory requirements
- Work collaboratively with Quality, Manufacturing, Product, Sales, and Global Suppliers
- Create complex models, drawings, and bill of material
- Support prototype creation and models to validate designs including hands-on testing and iterative learning
- Designs and runs test plans related to project work
- Perform basic IP searches
- Planning builds and minor projects
- Supports non-NPD initiatives including the resolution of quality issues, cost reductions, and productivity initiatives
- Knowledge of product lineup and competitive steps
- Develop unique and innovative solutions for unmet customer needs and/or new features to maintain product leadership
- Minimum: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
- Minimum: 5+ years' experience in a relevant field
- Designing solutions that meet regulatory and safety requirements
- SolidWorks: Proficiency with 3D modeling
