**Onsite IBM Storage Engineer - Ashburn, VA
1 year assignment
Projected Start Date - first week of September **

Scope

• As a IBM Spectrum Scale Engineer, you will play a crucial role in the administration, configuration, and design of storage solutions based on IBM Spectrum Scale.
• You will be responsible for troubleshooting complex problems within large storage and backup environments connected to large High-Performance Computing (HPC) environments.
• Additionally, you will be at the forefront of infrastructure automation and monitoring using cutting-edge tools like RedHat Ansible and other automation tools.
• Operational Support for 2 Clusters

Responsibilities

• Administration and Configuration: Administer, configure, and design storage solutions based on IBM Spectrum Scale (formerly GPFS).
• Troubleshooting: Troubleshoot complex problems within large storage and backup environments connected to large HPC environments.
• Automation: Automate provisioning and configuration tasks for large-scale infrastructure using platforms and tools such as RedHat Ansible and other automation tools.
• Monitoring: Monitor infrastructure health using existing solutions like Nagios, Icinga, ManageNow, Grafana, or similar tools. Respond promptly to hardware and software issues.
• Technology Standards: Support and maintain technology standards, processes, and policies related to on-premises and cloud infrastructure within the scope of the role.
• Consultancy: Contribute to international projects by providing consultancy on HPC infrastructure architectures, both on-premises and in the cloud.
• Documentation: Produce and maintain comprehensive documentation and charts describing hardware and infrastructure setups, as well as maintaining an up-to-date inventory.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Strong working knowledge of Linux, IBM Spectrum Scale.
• Strong scripting skills in Bash shell and Python.
• Strong experience with automated software configuration using tools such as Puppet, Ansible, and Chef.
• LPIC/RHCSA certification is highly desirable.
• Software-specific certifications related to IBM Spectrum Scale.
