What You Will Be Doing
Join our team as a CAD Designer and play a key role in the BIM process by creating and coordinating 3D models using Revit and AutoCAD. This position involves interpreting design documents, resolving project clashes, and assisting with mechanical, piping, and plumbing systems coordination. Ideal candidates will have strong experience in Autodesk software, problem-solving skills, and a commitment to delivering accurate, field-ready drawings.
Position Purpose: Create and coordinate 3D BIM models for mechanical equipment using Revit and AutoCAD. Support project teams by developing accurate, well-annotated coordination drawings for use in the field.
Key Responsibilities:
- Read, analyze, and interpret design documents and equipment submittals.
- Develop 3D models of mechanical equipment when not provided by the manufacturer.
- Assist with project coordination for ductwork, mechanical piping, and plumbing systems using Revit. Clearly annotate drawings with sizes, elevations, and relevant notes for ease of field installation.
- Use Navisworks to detect and resolve clashes within the project.
- Identify conflicts and prepare RFIs to seek resolution from the design team.
- Communicate coordination requirements with other trades, engineers, architects, and general contractors.
- Validate existing conditions shown on contract documents through field verification, ensuring accurate coordination.
- Attend online and/or on-site coordination meetings to contribute to project discussions.
- Collaborate with the Pre-Fabrication team to create fabrication drawings from coordinated models.
- Provide on-site support and respond to field inquiries related to ongoing projects.
- Assist project foremen in creating final redlines and interpreting them for record drawings.
Qualifications:
- Proficiency in Autodesk software, including AutoCAD, Revit, and Navisworks. Knowledge of Autodesk Fabrication software is a plus.
- Minimum 5 years of experience with AutoCAD.
- At least 2 years of experience with Revit.
- Familiarity with Navisworks Manage for clash detection and resolution.
- Experience in creating coordination drawings for mechanical trades and collaborating with other trades to resolve conflicts.
Additional Requirements:
- Willingness to train on using the Trimble Total Station for hanger location tasks.
- Openness to learning new, innovative workflows (e.g., scanning, new software implementations).
- Valid driver's license.
