Inside the Role
Within Daimler Truck North America, the Product Validation Engineering (PVE) Department is responsible for all component and system level validation to ensure our products lead the industry in reliability and support the lowest 'Total Cost of Ownership' objectives for our customers.
PVE is a multi-faceted department responsible for: developing, planning, and assembling test trucks; procuring and fabricating test parts; managing test facilities; and planning/controlling the overall department budget.
As a Systems Integration Engineering Technician III you will support the Prototype Build and Advanced Technology Integration teams as an expert in vehicle wiring, and electrical troubleshooting. Position offers a starting hourly range of $32.45 - $41.59 USD
Pay offered dependent on knowledge, skills, and experience

What You Drive at DTNA
- Update vehicles with harnessing and electronic components
- Read blueprints, wiring diagrams, schematic drawings, and engineering instructions
- Assist and perform vehicle build activities
- Build, modify, fix mechanical, pneumatic, electrical systems
- Create/modify/maintain wiring harnesses and test the connections as required
- Check and verify operation of the electric and mechanical systems installed to the vehicles
- Assist in troubleshooting of any issues found
- Support issue resolution in conjunction with the rest of the team
- Document any issues found, and the steps taken to resolve the same
- Assemble and install heavy cables on prototype vehicles
- Verify, troubleshoot, and repair vehicles electrical and electronic systems, and instrumentation
- Organize shop to provide simplicity in gathering parts and components for increase efficiency of the prototype wiring facility
- Help with build of prototype vehicle
- Verify test truck specifications (hardware/software) and resolve spec compatibility issues.
- Provide feedback to responsible Design Engineer(s) on assembly status and emerging issues.
- Perform issue diagnostics utilizing proprietary software tools.
- Document and support issue resolution during vehicle build process.
- 2 years of relevant experience required
- Demonstrated skills: detail-oriented, reliable, and self-motivated.
- HV3 Certification (vehicle high voltage safety training) OR ability to obtain within six months of employment.
- Commercial Driver License (CDL) OR ability to obtain within first two years of employment.
- Understands diagrams and documentation of Low Voltage harnesses along with routing requirements.
- Ability to test drive and diagnose issues in the mechanical and electrical systems.
- Assemble and repair of harnesses with full understanding of specialty tools requirements
- Truck/ Automotive experience is a plus
- Mechanically inclined
- Team player
- Work takes places in a working shop atmosphere, fast pace and working on multiple projects at the same time.
- Experience assembling, diagnosing, or troubleshooting DTNA products with a focus on electrical architecture and software-enabled components.
- Experienced with Detroit HDEP, MDEG and Cummins engines.
- Experience building wire harnesses and wiring overlays.
