Director of Engineering

Hackajob has partnered with a prominent organization in the IT services, consulting, and financial services sectors, seeking an experienced Engineering Director to join their team.

Role: Engineering Director

Location: Phoenix, Arizona - Hybrid (2-3 days/week)

Salary: $170k - $255k + benefits

Key Responsibilities

• Build strong teams with a focus on technology and develop a safe team space where every team member has a strong sense of belonging and is passionate to achieve collective team objectives.
• Build/Maintain strong, proactive relationships with Business, product, and Technology partners.
• Establish Strong Working Relationship with Product Owners and technical teams across various organization.
• Hire, retain, and mentor engineers, promoting a strong engineering culture and best practices.
• Conduct performance assessments, provide feedback, and create a continuous feedback loop with the engineering team.
• Be a compelling storyteller with experience communicating complex technical concepts and ideas to engineers and non- engineers alike.
• Demonstrated ability to adapt to new technologies and learn quickly.
• Accountable for driving roadmap and strategic direction within scope responsibilities.
• Ensure alignment of Architecture, strategies, tools/methods with software architects and developers.
• Ability to adapt solutions to meet the broader needs of the portfolio.
• Provide thought leadership around best practices and new/emerging concepts.
• Be a Change Agent and challenge status quo while helping to drive the necessary changes.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in large-scale software engineering and technology delivery in complex environments, with depth in user experience development .
• 5+ years of experience building Web applications .
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science , Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• Hands-on coding expertise in technologies such as React, Redux, Flux, Angular, Node.js, GraphQL, REST APIs, Java , and databases like Couchbase and MongoDB .
• Experience with platforms and tools like Akamai, Adobe Experience Manager, Adobe Analytics, Google Analytics, Google Cloud Platform , and AWS .
• Proven track record in engineering and deploying large-scale web products in an agile development environment.
• Strong leadership and collaboration skills, with the ability to lead teams and influence stakeholders within and outside the organization.
• Knowledge of DevOps practices for maintaining highly available IT infrastructure.
• Demonstrated adaptability to new technologies and quick learning abilities.
• Proven experience in coaching, mentoring, developing technical professionals .
