Overview

The SQL Dev Lead analyzes, designs, implements, and supports data reporting initiatives for the organization. The SQL Dev Lead is responsible for working with business teams, technical teams, and vendor teams to deliver on organizational reporting needs. The SQL Dev Lead is a functional/technical lead and is capable of translating business requirements into functional reporting and analytical deliverables. The SQL Dev Lead is the overall platform owner for the reporting technologies used within the organization. This is a “hands-on” position that requires analytical thinking and practical application of technology.

Job Specific Responsibilities

· Platform owner for the organization’s reporting infrastructure.

· Work with IT leadership and business leaders to develop and execute strategies to deliver accurate and reliable data to business units.

· Design, develop, and document ETL jobs, Report definitions, and data integrations supporting data delivery.

· Work with vendors to make sure systems stay up-to-date and that the organization is taking advantage of new reporting technology.

· Participate in management meetings and provide status updates and feedback on reporting deliverables.

· Assist with trouble tickets associated to the use of the reporting system(s) and reports.

· Work with business leaders to identify areas where reporting solutions or data analytics can enhance their efficiency and productivity.

· Work with IT leadership to develop plans to address business challenges by implementing new or modified reporting functionality.

· Develop and assist with end-user training.

· Ability to work with project management to deliver project deliverables on time.

· Scoping change requests and working with internal teams to execute changes.

· Ability to work with cross-functional teams.

§ In addition to tasks related specifically to this job title, IT staff will from time to time be given additional responsibilities, tasks, and projects within the Information Technology Department. It is the responsibility of the individual to perform all assigned tasks and projects in a professional manner and to the best of their abilities.

§ As a member of the Information Technology Department, staff are required to take part in technical and business discussions, share ideas, and to provide feedback with the goals of providing knowledge transfer and the continual improvement of the Information Technology Department.

§ Communication is critical to the success of the Information Technology Department. As such, it is the responsibility of all IT staff to report and communicate to your supervisor, any issues, concerns, or suggestions, or other information that may have an effect on the department. Including, but not limited to are the following areas:

§ Priorities, job responsibilities or timelines

§ Specific projects

§ Team member dynamics or issues

§ Anything that may negatively impact your ability to perform your tasks, either short-term or long-term.


Qualifications:

§ 5+ years of progressive experience in the report writing and data analysis.

§ Experience working with a small team of report writers and analysts.

§ Degree in Information Systems or like specialty strongly desired.

§ Must be able to read, write, and interpret complex SQL statements.

§ Experience with data modeling and data warehousing.

§ Experience with Microsoft Technologies including but not limited to:

o SSRS

o SSIS

o SQL Server

o Power BI

o Dynamics 365 (CE and F&O)

o Azure BYODB

o Azure Data Lake

o Synapse Pipelines

§ Sufficient business experience to be able to translate a client’s requirements into meaningful business requirements

§ Knowledge of Cloud Computing tools and techniques

§ Experience with MS Windows, Visual Studio environments.

§ Experience managing work through Microsoft DevOps

§ Experience in manufacturing and distribution environments

§ Experience working with vendors in the data and analytics space

§ Candidate should be a self-motivated, independent, detail oriented, responsible team-player and exhibit exceptional relationship management skills.
