Your Opportunity
Stantec is seeking a Structural Bridge Engineer to be a part of the growing Virginia design team. Your Key Responsibilities
Preparing structural design calculations, plans and contract documents in accordance with applicable design and agency standards (i.e. AASHTO, ACI, AISC, VDOT, etc.)
Performing structural analysis of new designs and existing structures (bridges and other transportation structures)
Leading and reviewing conceptual design alternatives in order to develop innovative and cost-effective design solutions
Performs inspection of simple and complex bridges along with preparing the inspection reports
Qualifications
Your Capabilities and Credentials
Ability to participate and collaborate in project team setting, engage in creative and critical thought, and effectively communicate ideas.
EIT is required.
Experience with AASHTO Bridge Design Specifications is required.
Experience with MDOT SHA, MDTA, and VDOT design criteria and requirements is preferred.
A working knowledge of MicroStation or AutoCAD is preferred.
Bridge load rating experience preferred.
Understanding of national and state bridge inspection methods, evaluations, and report preparation is preferred.
Successful Completion of FHWA/NHI Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges training course is preferred, but not required.
Ability to travel within the Maryland, Virginia, and District of Columbia area.
Ability to climb ladders, and work at heights using various bridge inspection access equipment.
Bridge Condition Inspection experience is a plus
Working knowledge of MicroStation
Excellent verbal and written skills
Experience on bridge design/analysis software.
Education and Experience
Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in Structural Engineering.
Minimum of 5 years structural engineering experience on bridges and other transportation structures
EIT Required
Professional Engineer (P.E.) registration in Virginia (preferred)
Position will work in an office setting and require field work.
